Luke said we are going to sign a shite ton on OL this year. Obviously have to replace Little and a few others.

It would be awesome if those were his exact words in like a press conference or something.

Yeah, this is starting to sound like Freeze a bit. Whiff big time on a position, tell everyone you are going to make it up next year, go after the biggest names at that position, just barely miss out on a few top guys, tell everyone you are going to make it up next year.

Derick Hall is another name to watch as far as 2019 Linebackers. Ranked 101 in the nation by 247. Plays at Gulfport which is Matt Luke's high school. Would be a perfect pair with Nakobe.

We do have to find our niche. We don't have to continually go after guys we probably won't get in an effort to win 10 or even 9 games for me to consider our season successful. Maybe I'm content to just settle, but if we can pull off 7 or 8 and be competitive most every week, I'm comfortable with that.

I believe the staff was looking to get at least 3. Looks as if they got one and a couple of d-line guys that could end up on the o-line.

But that starting line up next season is going to be the strength of the offense and maybe help the defense by being able to do more ball control running late in games.

If not for the transfer of Defoor. They would have had a solid 2nd line of Newman-LT, Tuitt-LG, Johnson-C, Defoor-RG and Mathews-RT. Brown and/or Gray will be expected to fill Defoor's absemce. Still, all with a red shirt season and one or two years of experience. This would have been by fair the best 10 man rotation they would have ha. in my 40 years. So it's not as if the staff and Luke weren't on pace to build a solid offensive line for the future.

They need a big time season, in order to pick up some momentum and you could see the staff pick up 3-4 linemen of better quality. No need to take linemen you don't believe can play at the SEC level, when you will have 3 or 4 leaving the next season and can offer up the opportunity to start immediately, to some 4 and 5 stars.

They are going to need quality replacements for those 4 or 5 guys not 2 star legacies.

The offensive line should be better than 9 of the 12 defensive lines they face next season. They should win 9 or 10 games if we can get some solid linebacker play.

In 2018 or 2019? Because a 7 win season in 2019 would probably be a bit of a bummer, especially if we somehow wrangle in a top 20 class going in. Ole Miss should’ve probably had at least 8 wins this year, and we were miserable to watch in the second half of most games. 7-8 wins isn’t the goal, but it’d be a start

We have between 25 and 30 offers out instate for the 19' class. Deepest and most talented class in MS history. Should end up with close to 10 top 300 kids.

Look out for Diwun Black from Forest, MS as well. He is currently committed to Miss. State, but many believe he will flip that commitment to the Rebels

I’m not comfortable with settling for 7 wins. It’s part of why I hate the Luke hire, even if I understand all the reasons why we hired him

Yeah, I can understand that. I know seven wins is fairly low with the way schedules consist of FCS schools so much now. I guess it's just my built in mechanism for guarding against a total 2-10 type season collapse. Something I have endured multiple times as a lifelong OM fan.

We shouldn't accept low end mediocrity in the same way we don't accept 2-10 season collapses. I've endured them too, but with how much money the SEC makes nowadays, a 7 win season should be slightly disappointing in the SEC West

Back here for the recruiting :P

Interesting class so far.

Hearing some news about Byron Young, apparently MSU and us are going real hard after him.

I cant remember a player we have heavily recruited from the coast besides Senquez G. It'd be nice to see more of a presence in that area of the state.

Love or hate him, but we may have an inside advantage on the coast now.....

Agreed. I believe we have offers out to players at Gulfport, St. Martin, D'Iberville and Harrison Central for 2019.

Basically cut from the same cloth...accept Petrino has the ability to adjust an offensive game plan if the Defense adjust. Hall will continue running the same plays even though he isn’t getting any where with them.
