I didn't realize how deep we are. I though Romello and Vaughn would for sure be starting yet they are coming off the bench. I completely forgot about Crowley and Robert Allen as well. All of those guys could easily start.

Defense is looking great so far too! I'm sure the depth will contribute to that down the line

Depth is our strongest asset this year. We have 3-4 guards, 3-4 forwards, and 1-2 centers who are all viable options at all times. We haven't had that in a good while

I don't think I'm overreacting when I say we're going to the final four baby

Matthew Murrell does not look like a freshman.

We definitely have the depth to be really good. I'll wait until a few more games to make predictions.

I know we're up big, but I wish we'd stop shooting from the 3 every possession. We've been doing well in the paint

Solid game. Ball movement looks really great for the lack of practice. Shot selection towards the end got ugly but I’m sure it was tough to keep the foot on the gas up 40 points.

Can’t wait to see them against better teams

Ole Miss was the last school from a Power 5 conference to begin its season.
The Rebels improved to 38-0 all-time against the SWAC, including 4-0 versus Jackson State.
The 45 points was the second-fewest allowed under Kermit Davis and the 10th-fewest points surrendered this century (22 seasons).
Ole Miss' 35-point win was the largest margin of victory since a 91-45 win over Lipscomb (Nov. 23, 2012).
Devontae Shuler produced his seventh career 20-point game with a game-high 23 points. Shuler shot 9 of 10 from the floor, including 5 of 5 from beyond the arc; it was the best field goal percentage in a game (minimum 10 shots) since Marcanvis Hymon went 10 of 11 (90.9 percent) against Towson (Nov. 20, 2015).
Ole Miss forced 26 turnovers, a best in the three seasons under Kermit Davis.
The Rebels' starting lineup consisted of four returning starters from a season ago (KJ Buffen, Luis Rodriguez, Devontae Shuler and Khadim Sy) and Oxford native Jarkel Joiner.
Six Rebels made their debut in an Ole Miss uniform: Joiner, Robert Allen, Matthew Murrell, Shon Robinson, Dimencio Vaughn and Romello White In the first half, Ole Miss went on a 20-0 run over 8:04, turning a 6-4 deficit into a 24-6 lead; it was the team's best run since a 28-0 run against Chattanooga (Dec. 16, 2018).
The 12 points for Jackson State in the first half were the fewest points allowed by the Rebels under Kermit Davis.
The 29-point lead (41-12) at the half was the largest halftime lead under Davis. Shuler outscored the Tigers in the first half, 13-12.

This team lacks an elite scorer but might be elite on the defensive end. This team doesn’t have a bad defender on this team.

Yep, I'm beginning to notice that too. Hopefully after these next couple of non conference games, 1 or 2 of these guys will be able to establish himself in the scoring department.

I can see why the team was so disappointed with the
Luis Rodriguez injury last year. He’s an elite defender that plays with a lot of energy. If he can improve his offense and become a decent shooter he has a chance to make a NBA roster someday.

There are 2-3 guys on the team that can be elite scorers. I hope they grow into it as the season gets deeper.

KenPom has us at 5 in the SEC and 37 overall. Offense efficiency rating at 64 and defense efficiency rating at 18. The two question marks coming into this year was if this team has enough shooting and who was gonna be the guy when the team needs a basket. A big bright spot is we have got nothing out of Buffen yet and no way that continues.

Ole Miss dominated the paint, outscoring the Seahawks 50-20.
Romello White scored a team-high 20 points on 7 of 8 shooting, his fourth career 20-point game and first as a Rebel. It was White's first 20-point game since his freshman season at Arizona State (Feb. 4, 2018 at Washington State).
Luis Rodriguez produced his first career double-double with career highs in points (14) and rebounds (12). Rodriguez's 12 rebounds were the most by a Rebel since Terence Davis pulled down 12 versus No. 5 Kentucky (March 5, 2019).
White made his first start in an Ole Miss uniform; it was the 93rd start of his collegiate career.
Seven Rebels scored two points apiece for Ole Miss' first 14 points.
Saturday's game was the first matchup on the hardwood between Ole Miss and UNCW.

Anyone else feel like our offense is underwhelming..... like statistically I guess it’s not but it seems that way

We really need Joiner and Murrell to score 10+ a night. Murrell’s shots have been decent they just aren’t falling yet. I think this team will figure out scoring and hopefully the defense keeps getting better so we don’t need to score 80 a night to beat people like AK teams.

Defense is special. Hopefully offense puts it all together for sec play.

Defense looks good first half. Offense is still a work in progress.
