re: Official 2019 Ole Miss Baseball Thread: 15-7 (2-2) - L 2-1 - NEXT UP: @Missouri
Some thoughts:

Bama’s three weekend starters look very impressive. Their stat lines are great. Collectively, they have walked 9 batters in 58.2 innings. We will see a lot of strikes this weekend. Let’s keep swinging aggressively and hope some balls find some holes (lol).

Bama is red hot. They have won 12 straight and 15 of their last 16.

Bama has some dudes who can swing it, although they do not hit for power as much as we do. They have 55 XBH in 18 games and we have 57 in 17.

We run a lot more. We have 33 SBs (1.9/game) and they have just 19 (1.1/game).

WE MUST GET SOME QUALITY STARTS OUT OF OUR STARTERS. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP SPOTTING TEAMS 2-3 RUNS IN THE FIRST INNING.

What do you think causes all the errors in the opening frame in the field? I never played baseball at a high level so I don’t understand mentally what causes that. Are they just not amped up to play? What is the deal?

If I knew what caused errors, I’d be a bagillionaire.

I played all four years of high school and I know what caused all of my errors (of which there were many): (1) I was not very good; and (2) I would rush throws to first from infield positions. If I recall correctly, most of our errors have been fielding errors rather than throwing errors.

To me, Being amped up or too amped up to play would cause more errors, especially on routine ground balls. I have no idea what to think of our slow starts defensively and on the mound. I do know why we start slow offensively: we are aggressive at the plate (for good reason). It usually takes us a couple of innings to figure out any starting pitcher.

I will be pretty upset if we let Bama go up 2-0 or 3-0 in the first. We really need some quality starts from our starters. Luckily, Ethridge is throwing tonight, and Phillips and Hoglund seem to be settling down.

Hoglund was very good the past two Sundays.

For some reason I like that Javon Patterson is always at our baseball games. He has good tickets, too (see behind plate on TV). He’s welcome anytime to play on my slow pitch softball team.

Great job not scoring after having runners on the corners with no outs

Sometimes, man, I swear. We have the whiniest fanbase.

Good start thus far.

We do have some “jump to conclusions” fans. I can only assume all schools do.

Every possible run is important with the way our pitching has been. Extremely vital to get the man in from 3rd with no outs.

Bianco is killing me. We PH Fitz for Servideo because why?! Now we lose Servideo's defense and bat if we need it for a hitter who is now 1-10 on the year

Isn’t Servideo a left handed batter only? That’s why he pinched in fitz, who is a righty.

Great pitching tonight from all three of our guys.

It is AWESOME to see Caracci back to form. He ran a few up to 94 in the ninth.

Let’s go win the series tomorrow

Did they win? The stupid Ole Miss Baseball twitter hasn't updated in 17 minutes. Still 1-0 top of the 9th.

Yea i know Bianco PH Fitz for the righty/lefty matchup but I think Bianco puts way too much merit into that sometimes. Why PH for a guy that is hitting .300 for somebody that is hitting .100 (although Fitz does have limited ABs). Servideo has been one of our better hitter/defenders this year and I dont like taking the bat out of his hands for Fitz

That said, glad to see our pitching step up and glad to see Caracci looking solid with that 5 out save

Dawg, every baseball coach everywhere does that, all the way up to the majors

I don’t disagree with you though.

Glad to see ZBO start swinging a hot stick.

Who is gonna be that guy that comes off the bench and hits nothing but XBH ala Big Time Timmy Jim Rowe? We gottanfind that guy. Is it Kevin graham?

re: Official 2019 Ole Miss Baseball Thread: 15-7 (2-2) - L 2-1 - NEXT UP: @Missouri
Yea, im cool with trying to get that matchup in late innings at the bottom of the lineup. Just not the number two hitter in the lineup.

I really want the sweep this weekend, but would ultimately be happy with 2/3. Hopefully Phillips and Hoglund throw some gems and the bats get hot again. Dillard and Keenan have been ice cold the last few games. I feel like we are hitting a lot of balls hard, but just right at people it seems like

And im hoping that guy will be Tim Elko. He tore it up during the summer and is a true 5 tool player. Hes probably been the biggest disappointment for me so far this season
