Spent all game behind and even with league overcompensating not calling fouls for SGA (2FT attempts, has 8 in last 3 games total) they still came back and won.
Thunder improve to 5-0.
Double digit comeback on the 2nd night of a back to back without JDub/Chet/Joe/Kenrich.
SGA: 31 PTS/9 REB/3 BLK
Wiggins: 18 PTS/6 AST/3 BLK
Mitchell: 18 PTS/3-7 3PT/2 STL
Next up: Wizards in OKC on Thursday night.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are dead last in 3FG percentage and also battling with injuries.
They are also 4-0 and the best record in the NBA.
OKC invested into their bench + they have like 3 1st round picks every year to replenish the 9th, 10th, & 11th guy. They signed guys on great team friendly contracts.
Jaylin Williams, Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins, Cason Wallace (starting for JWill), Ajay Mitchell could all be starters.
Thats not even mentioning Nikola Topic, Kenrich Williams, Brooks Barnhizer, Dieng, & Thomas Sorber (hurt).
Upcoming Draft Capital
X3 2026 picks (UTA top 8 protected, PHI top 4 protected)
X3 2027 picks (DEN Top 5 Protected, LAC Swap rights, SAS top 16 protected)
They are going to be tough to stop over the next 5 to 6 years.

The Thunder has 21-straight wins against Eastern Conference teams.
That's the longest streak of wins against an opposing conference in NBA history
Ajay again off the bench. Plus Joe is back!
SGA - 31 points, 7 assists
Joe - 20 points, 6 rebounds
Mitchell - 20 points
Hartenstein - 17 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists

Someone pointed out the Clippers' average age is 2 years older than Alex Caruso

They. traded a young SGA, their draft picks, and all their youth for Paul George.

Some teams get fixated on one player and just have to have them. In thos case it was K Leonard. But he would only agree if they got PG. From the start Presti was always going to get SGA because of his negotiating position. But he got all those other picks too.
Presti knew this would end one era and start another one which was still a gamble. He knew SGA was good but no one could predict how good. And Presti knew the gamble was a tanking Thunder could lose fan support after a long run of being close but unable to get over the hump.
And he then assembled a title team. Last year he added the last 2 pieces in Caruso and IHart. But from getting SGA to those last 2 pieces was a lot more work he had to do.
Another important aspect is who to have coach young players and teach them. I always say Scottie Brooks rode the coattails of stars and never really coached them. Its why they struggled in big moments, they always won on talent alone but not coaching.
And Presti nailed the coach for the SGA era. Another big decision he got right. He also was able to show SGA his vision which otherwise SGA could have left after his contract. He not only stayed he loves it here.
Someday there will be a 30 for 30 on all the power moves Presti made and how each one of them contributed to the title. Not one move did it but if any one move was wrong we don’t have a title. Just amazing what he did in a small market city.
Whats ironic is the Caruso/Giddy trade is a very rare win/win. Giddy is going to be great but he wasn’t ready for where OKC was. He will be a star in Chicago. And make our old coach B Donovan look good. And Caruso helped win us a title. Giddy was potential where Caruso was seasoned. And no matter how good giddy does no one can take the title away thats permanent.

Thunder fall to 8-1.
First OKC loss since Game 6 of the NBA Finals.
2nd night of a road B2B. 3rd game in 4 nights.
No JDub/Chet/Dort/Caruso.
Credit to Portland. Blazers played hard and hit a lot of tough 3s.
Next up: Kings in Sacramento on Friday. First NBA Cup game.

Those are great points, OU Guy. It really is crazy, in some ways the fact we became NBA Champs in stunning fashion still hasn't hit me. Presti built a generational buzzsaw and I'm here for every second of it!
I truly believe Caruso was a catalyst to get us through the playoffs/finals. These young guys didn't know how to win a championship, not saying they couldn't have done it without Caruso. They could have. But they watched him go Leroy Jenkins-mode and I believe he took pressure off the stars and showed them how to tell the pressure to frick off.
