Try out Sundy Best. Got their start in Lexington. Just two weeks ago they got a top spot on CMTs boards. Pretty cool.

I was thinking about those old days and the B-52s and I remembered another Athens band I used to like a lot, especially when they played the local clubs ... most people have probably never heard of them.

Eta: Another one from my era, this one all Gamecock - big fans.

I was wanting a German team to pull for. I was already a Liverpool fan, and I saw that the two teams have somewhat of a partnership, at least as far as the fans go.

My five favorites and their geographical conception:

Gram Parsons (Deceased) - Tampa

Uncle Tupelo (defunct) - St. Louis

Star Room Boys (defunct) - Athens

Drive By Truckers - Athens

Bobby Bare, Jr. - Nashville

The most famous band to ever come out of Auburn has to be Man or Astroman?. The Vegabonds are pretty good too, but they're definitely not to the level of the other bands mentioned so far.

If you don't like Corey Smith thats fine, but for me he and his music represent the south and sometimes the SEC quite well.

Also i don;t think they are from auburn but they play there often enough is Rollin' in the Hay. Like the song called Smokin' through the South.
