Eh, I wouldn't put him in my top 5. He needs a bigger body of work before he can truly be considered anyway IMO.
As far as artists who are currently still big names and relatively active in the the game, as lyricists, along with Drake and in no particular order, I would also put Eminem, J Cole, and Kendrick Lamar... Would have to think a bit about the 5th spot tho.

Lol, no. That's just what they want you to believe and you're actually falling for it. Real G's move in silence like lasagna. Gangster rap may be over, but real gangsters still control the rap game. They simply learned from the failures of their predecessors.
Nobody flaunted that they were a gangster harder than Tupac, and how did that work for him? He got shot up in NYC, locked up in prison, then shot again and murdered in Vegas.
And despite what 90s rappers would have you believe, real true gangsters are businessmen, not thugs. Real gangsters make orders from a boardroom, they don't run around the streets themselves.
There's still guys who rap about what big gangsters they are and all that does is invite police attention and get them locked up (Boosie, Gucci, Bobby Shmurda, etc, etc, etc). That's if they are lucky enough not to get killed first (Doe B, Lil Phat, Bankroll Fresh, etc, etc).

Drake is more dangerous than Shug IMO because Drake is actually smart. Shug was out there putting in work on the streets and busting heads himself. Shug Knight was his own enforcer and he was a hot head too which makes it a miracle it took as long as it did,for him to get locked up.
Drake is making moves from behind a desk in a penthouse. He's sending out orders to be carried out by expendable goons. That means it's going to be very difficult to bring him down. It also means for his victims that even if you manage to survive one attempt on your life that your still not safe, Drake can just hire somebody else to finish the job.
It's that Jew Blood in him that makes Drake so conniving and dangerous.
