...very good documentary about a great decade. Watching this on Nat Geo really puts into perspective how truly sh###y and forgettable the last decade and a half has been by comparison.

I've really enjoyed the show. I wasn't around until the next decade, but the 80's have always intrigued me and they definitely seem a hell of a lot better than what we are living with right now.

Other than the super groups and some great movies of the decade, the 70s was AWFUL. I was too young to know personally but my dad tells me it was a terrible decade and things didn't turn around economically until the early 80s. In fact, it's eerie how similar the latter half of the 70s was to the latter half of the 2000s. High unemployment and a horrible recession, high gas prices, Mideast terrorism problems with Iran, and very little confidence. Yep, the 70s were just wonderful compared to the 80s.

Class of 1993 here. My K-12 years spanned from 1980 to 1993 so I have great memories of the 80s

Anyone remember Rick Dees and the Weekly Top 40?

The only thing I'm glad I missed or simply didn't comprehend at the times because I was only 9 at the time was the made for cable movie "The Day After (1983)" which was featured in the 3rd episode of the series. I would have been totally paranoid if I would have been old enough to understand what was going on and I'd be a nervous wreck.

"80s sucked, disco, bad music, bad movies, goofy cars"

You're either trolling or clueless. Disco was from the 70s so that's a huge strike against your beloved 70s, not the 80s. Like I said, some of the greatest super groups of all time (LZ, PF, ABB, etc) saved 70s music from being complete crap. Bad movies? Not even close. Goofy cars? Yeah, the 70s didn't have any of those.

Rick Dees lives outside of Lexington. He has a magazine and web site called TopsInLex.com.

I know one good thing about the 1980's...I always possessed pot. For every single minute of that decade, I had at least a dime...all of the time.
