My weird arse dream just now:

I'm on a grassy slope area on a big lake, and there's a big wooden dock nearby built too high over the water, about 6-8-foot drop to the water, maybe there was a ladder to climb down, can't remember. But whoever built that dock, you wonder if they could have gotten the base of it closer to the water.

All the sudden I hear/see it...again. Part of a short dream I'd had days earlier I guess...

...a small dinghy boat with the boat motor pulled up halfway out of the water, making a God-awful noise, and splashing water up into the boat, and...(just as I remembered from days earlier), Tony Soprano comes over the side of the hill bitching somebody out over the boat being left unattended and the boat motor being propped halfway up and splashing water into the boat.

(Again, I’d had that short dream days earlier and the dream had ended, but today it kept going)

Who was Tony Soprano bitching at? I never saw. I don't remember anyone in the dream except for me and Tony Soprano, but he was not bitching at me for the boat.

Anyway, I dive into the water to try and reach the boat to turn the motor off and get the motor to the dock without it sinking, figuring we can dive down and get the boat later. I didn’t make it. Boat sank, motor and all, at the same time Tony dove into the water as well.

So I'm first to take a gulp of air and attempt to go down and begin pulling the boat from the floor of the lake, maybe 9 feet deep, or a little less. Immediately - in my dream - I'm out of shape and come back up bitching I'm out of shape.

(I’m out of shape in real life right now, and I was also out of shape in my dream)

So me and Tony are there dog paddling figuring out how to engineer this boat out of the water…

All the sudden, a very wide flash of laser comes rushing out of space somewhere and hits the moon, a full moon (I guess it was nighttime all the fricking sudden!). I’d had my back turned to the origin of the big arse laser, but I was able to look up in time and see it smash into the full moon.

Tony and I were probably cussing like “WTF” but I don’t remember, and in an instant, there were two full moons, not one. Both full moons were fairly bright orange and the background was lighter orange like a cantaloupe.

At that point the sky was lit up pretty good, a patch of blue sky opened up, and clouds began flying by a hundred miles an hour. Frick tons of clouds passing overhead like crazy.

(I literally still at this point did not think, in my dream, “hey dumbass, you’re dreaming.”)

It was pretty scary and then I started praying, thinking, you know what, I think this is judgement day. I remember distinctly thinking, “I don’t hear trumpets, but I think this is judgement day” and I was dog paddling in the water and praying to Jesus for last-minute salvation.

Don’t know where Tony Soprano was at the moment, pretty sure he was still dog paddling in the water nearby, and then I woke up.

I had a dream the other night that I fixed a powdered drink (one of those packets you put in water bottles) in a large souvenir cups I got at an Alabama game and somehow my cat ran outside, like sprinting. I chased after him panicked, he climbed over my fence into the neighbor's yard and I go back inside. Cat runs in two seconds later carrying an empty grapefruit La Croix box and then drops a pinecone from his mouth into the drink I made. And that was the end

I don't know what this means

I tend to have dreams follow a narrative structure of some kind. Like... I'm in high school and uncover an international spy ring. Or a fantasy plot just unfolds in front of me.

I probably have brain damage so best to not go into them.

I'm taking one tonight, mixed with two different wines and Miller Lite and Guiness

I need Daniel (ETA: from the Old Testament, not the Aggie fan) to interpret my dream

I take Melatonin pretty regularly, no weird dreams for me. But Gabapentin (nerve pain killer I took for a short time during a bout with sciatica) will produce some vivid, almost acid trip dreams. I stopped taking it just because of the fricking dreams. Pretty sure Hunter S. Thompson ate that shite like candy.

Not my dream, but this is something I had posted in Pio's birds-aren't-real-we're-in-a-simulation thread, as copied from a reddit AMA:

I am in full control of my actions when I dream, and can change my dream universe to whatever I want.
quote:

My lucid dreams just started happening when I was young.

I can create and manage an entire universe, from the galaxies to the physical makeup of life-forms, their lifespans, and the colour of space. I can choose to destroy it.

I've practiced high school math before an exam, created a teacher, and learned it for the next day. I've learned things from historical figures by meeting them.

There is a house that I walk by every single time I dream, although I've never gone inside. No matter how I create the universe. I've even attempted to not pass by that house, and I still walk by it every night.

My dream time usually lasts as long as I want, and in world-time only a few minutes have ever gone by between the dream starting and waking up. I occasionally get stuck in my dreams for months at a time because of some silly fact or paradox. The longest I have experienced dream-world is four years.

I've always pondered the possibility that the universe we live in could be a figment of our minds. I've also pondered it could a figment of somebody else's mind, the collective consciousness, among many other things. I've also considered the possibility that our universe could be the cell of a much large being (God, creature, animal, whatever), or that long ago I may have just never woken up from my dream, and this universe is simply that — a dream.

Mine the other night involved Lane Kiffin and Donald Trump.

No, I am not kidding. It was bizarre as hell.

Had to take Chloroquine regularly while in Afghanistan in 2003. For those who do not know, it is a malaria prophylaxis . Had incredibly vivid dreams the entire time and for months afterward. Crazy stuff

Afghanistan is probably not the best place to have very vivid dreams.

My mother has vivid dreams on occasion where it can take her a few seconds on waking up to (more if the room is really dark) to realize its a dream.

My dream theme is always about trying to find something that I misplaced.

An the object always changes during the dream and I never find it. But I meet many different characters during my searching...

And then I wake up, shite, shower, shave and go to work.

My recurring theme is that I’m really late for class or I’m in class and not prepared for an exam. I haven’t taken a class for 29 years.
