OK.

Well, yeah, Kennesaw is redneck. Hell, every household there is required to have a gun.

Atlanta proper is the exact opposite of redneck though. I should know. I live in Midtown.

I like Midtown, it's the one area of Atlanta I'd live in.

"redneck" and city in same breath, doesn't ring true for me.

I don't think Atlanta, KC or Cleaveland are redneck meccas.

Midtown is the most diverse area in the entire Atlanta Metro.

That's because they aren't. That blog was written by a hack writer that couldn't even bother to do a tiny bit of research on the topic that she so ignorantly wrote about.

Redneck "cities" simply don't exist in the first place, not even Southern ones. Southern cities are ghetto intercity, and an upper-middle class, educated suburban population.

You have to really look at towns like Laurel, Mississippi and Opp, Alabama to find true redneckery. But all small Southern towns are pretty much the same, so the list is impossible to do in the first place

There really isn't much to this story.

For those of us that aren't regularly exposed to rednecks, hillbillies, hicks, white trash, etc...they're all hillbillies or rednecks. There's no difference.

These are the cities in which a good portion of the people are white trash. Try to discredit it as you wish, but Atlanta is full of hicks/rednecks/trash. Sure, there's a bunch of ghetto arse black folks, but there's also a lot of rednecks and white trash.

It is what it is. Embrace your fricking culture.

You know how I know that you've never been to Atlanta?

Birmingham has Forest Park, Cahaba Heights, and Inverness, but I still don't consider that "Birmingham" even though they're in the city limits.

I've been there, and it's ghetto as shite. I also know where my cousins live, which is outside of town, and those frickers are hicks.

When someone asks me about my cousins, they are always classified as hicks or rednecks. They live in Atlanta, but if they lived in Des Moines they'd be the same, and there's plenty like them there.

ETA: I'm exaggerating for effect, I've never visited them in ATL (except the airport), but I know where they live, which is ATL metro, and when they visit me, they're certainly hicks/redneck.

I'm a mile or so from downtown. I'm in the middle of Atlanta.

Yeah... well Atlanta is a bit different than the average Southern city.

Then they live OTP and no one ITP would ever claim them.

Is the security guard at the Metro Mall ITP or OTP?

Exactly, which is why it's fricking stupid for it to be on this list.

That would be like Birmingham claiming Cullman and Walker County as part of the city. Which isn't the case AT ALL.

Looked up ITP/OTP. Believe it or not, the family is ITP.

They're helping the Atlanta cause.

Where do they live?

I'm not saying that there aren't a few 'necks in Atlanta, but they're vastly outnumbered.
