Atlanta at #1? Atlanta might be the most ghetto city in the country.

No. Memphis takes that title.
Detroit makes Memphis look like Disney World.

What a joke of a list. How does Birmingham avoid the list? And Nashville really isn't all that redneck, and rednecks in Atlanta have died down

Glad to see I'm not alone in thinking this is the worst town in America.

I love KC, but I can't call it a redneck city.
True the wheat exchange is there, but so is the Art Institute, and all of those pretty fountains, and the old school mobbed Italians.
The Ameristar is 50/50, and I can't recall any truly country type bars or venues.
Good hunting and fishing isn't exactly close to KC either.
Half of that list is dead on with OKC, Tulsa, Ft. Worth, Sacramento, and Nashville I'm OK with b/c of the music and surrounding countryside.
If you've ever been to Atlanta you know it's the exact polar opposite of a redneck city, It got the Foxworthy bump. Cleveland, uh just no. Mesa, AZ I don't know enough about, and KC... you can't be redneck if you have an Arts Institute in your city.

Redneck-ness is not quantifiable.

Anyone who has ever lived in Atlanta knows what a joke this list is. The city is majority African American. Midtown is predominantly gay. Virginia Highlands is home to the region's liberal elite. Good gawd, there are three large universities and many more smaller colleges within city limits. Who ever heard of a college being redneck?
Cobb and Douglas Counties might have some rednecks but they're rich if they live there. Very conservative counties but definitely not redneck.
There might be rednecks in the burbs, but within the perimeter it's a very diverse population.

Number of NASCAR race tracks close by- Oh, hey, there's one of those close by, but most Atlantans have never even been inside of it.
Only time I've been to the speedway or even close to that region, which is well outside the city, was at a gun show

I don't if its people in cincy trying to be southern. So much as it is Covington Kentuckians coming across the river trying to fit in to the city.
Definitely the Covington folks. But the lower upperclass and middle uppers want to be elitist. And see the southern plantation as it. Which is opposite of the Hyde park Indian hills area. They want to be New York socialite types.
quote:
Dayton and suburbs east/south is about as redneck as you can get. west Dayton reminds one of Tarrant.
Dayton is ghetto west side and black, ghetto east side and white, redneck trashy north, and middle class white to the south. Suburbs don't reach out but a few miles, then you are in the country.

If a city in California is on the list, it is invalid. Not to mention... Arlington? Ft. Worth? The East Texas pine is where the rednecks are. Tyler, Longview, Marshall, Texarkana, Carthage, Lufkin, Nacadoches, Hallsville, Tatum, Gilmer... and the most redneck town in Texas I have been to... Daingerfield.

Most people who use the term redneck don't have a clue what it means anymore.
There is little difference between regional "trash." You can call them whatever you wish.

There are tons of people in California, Oregon and Washington that would easily be called redneck. However you define it.

I realize this. I lived in Atlanta for years. I'm just saying that it is redneck.
