With several of us trying to get rid of bad habits, I figured it would be a good idea to create an accountability thread for those who want to participate.

All vices are welcome and all vices are equal. One of the things we often do, as humans, is minimize our addiction and look down on others for theirs. That is not what this thread is about. Everybody is addicted to something. If you dont think you are addicted - ask your significant other or your friends. They will tell you the truth.

My addictions are:
1. DIet Coke - drink up to 12 a day.
2. Excessive eating - have weighed in the range of 185 lbs up to 275 lbs in my life.

I will update this thread (on page one) for how many days or how much success you are having.

SECDragonmaster
1. Quit Diet Coke on 10/15/18. relapsed last weekend and had 8-10 of them. Quit again and feeling better. Sober now since 11/6/18.
2. Weight. I am going to be back to 185 by the new year (1/1/19).
10/15 weight 217.5 lbs
10/21 weight 214.0 lbs
10/31 weight 211.2 lbs
11/12 weight 209.2 lbs (ate pizza by myself on 11/6 but corrected it)

Ran 10 miles on 11/10 and back on the right road.

Momentoftruth87 -
1. Quit cigarettes on 10/16/18.
Hopefully Celebrating Day #15 free of the nicotine dragon!

Arksulli -
1. Alcohol is excessive. Admitting the problem is the first step. Has reduced the amount he is drinking. No more than 6 units of alcohol! 11/6 drank a 12 pack of cheap beer. No shame in admitting the problem. We have all been there!
2. Lose weight. DOWN to 274 and mental change has begun!

11/6/18 down to 271!

The Spleen -
1. Phone addiction. Not sure what type of phone but apples new update gives you a total screen time each week. How about you give us a "current status of use" and we can help you plan from there?

DownSouthJukin -
1. The rant - goals to reduce time used. Great idea.
2. Alcohol - no more than 6 beers and 3 vodkas on each weekend day. drank too much on 11/6/18
3. Poor eating habits. LOST 4 lbs so far!! Exercising more regularly. relapse on 11/6/18. only human like all of us.
4. Poor sleep habits.
5. Phone addiction - will turn it off after 10 pm. some backsliding here but we all enjoy it!
6. NOW working out 3 days a week. Go DSJ!

I bleed Garnet -
1. Skoal - needs reducing
2. Alcohol - needs reducing
(both need specific goals to help motivation)

Commander Data -
1. Suboxone and Xanax (6 mg daily) - hopefully seeking medical help on his Xanax tapering process. Prayers for this issue my brother.

Cheese Grits -
1. Alcohol addiction - currently in a tiny bit of denial. Hope we can motivate him.
2. Mac & Cheese - you can't avoid this addiction. No one can.

prostyleoffensetime -
1. Diet Coke - needs a firm plan to start.
2. Unhealthy eating - same here. Hopefully I can motivate him too.

Skunk -
1. Alcohol - freely admits to his problem. Great start. Now on craft beers. Planned to stop on 10/28/18!

SECUSC4 -
1. Quit dipping years ago!
2. Alcohol has taken its place but he has recognized the problem.

Iron Lion -
1. Cigs - off since August 2016.
2. Substance issues persist. Needs a specific plan to start. You can do it.

Kcprogguitar -
1. cigs - quit in 2013 after a heart attack. An inspiration of success for us all.

Tiguar -
1. Alcohol (Rum) Has admitted its likely a problem. Baby stepping is still stepping.

LanierSpots -
1. Alcohol to the point of blacking out. Not a good habit but with Gus it is understandable. Hope he will start reducing it soon.

Hogwarts -
1. Too much internet time wasted. Might I offer a plan to stop visiting any website other than this one We can always use more pigs for the fun.

What the heck. I'll join in. I tip back a few drinks at night, probably more then I should since I'm not a youngster anymore.

I don't want to completely give this vice up, but I do need to count it down. So starting today I'll switch to at least one day off after I drink and I'll reduce the amount I'm drinking.

Congrats dude I’m glad you’re shedding weight. Coke/Soda (even diet) is terrible for you in so many ways. I think you’ll see a huge improvement in the way you feel once you get past cravings/withdrawals.

Congrats and good luck. Cut that Soda out and keep it out if you can. That stuff is absolute garbage (although delicious) for us outside of treating yourself every now and then. I might have a single sprite a week, if that, and have gone to heavy water consumption and feel a lot better mentally and physically for it.

I had a pretty healthy opioid habit 5 or 6 years ago. Not sure I was ever addicted, and I was obtaining them legally for chronic pain, but I was popping 5-10 lortab 10s a day, with a few roxis mixed in every few days. Surgery fixed my pain issues though and haven't had any opioids since a kidney stone a couple of years ago.

My addiction I'm trying to kick now is my damn phone. I deleted Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram off my phone back in January, but I'm still on the thing more than I should be. I do well for a few days every now and then, but fall back into it pretty quickly.

I was prescribed oxycodone & oxycontin 3*/day for years. I could never take anywhere close to it because it would make me feel sick. Those got put into my med bags and I have them for future use.

Was on many pills coming out of the military, now just smoke weed for pain and mindset.

Never really was into pills, so I'm thankful for that.

This is probably everyone's true #1. Phones/electronics are the real devil in life.

Good thread idea. Thanks, SECD. Nice job on cutting back on the Diet Cokes.

My addictions are:
1. The Rant.
2. Binge drinking on weekends.
3. Crap eating on weekends.
4. Staying up too late and sleeping in too late.
5. Glued to phone.

DSJ -
1. Day 0. Going to view and post only at lunch time and after work, but no later than 9:00 p.m.
2. Day 0. No more than 6 beers or 3 vodkas on Friday and Saturday.
3. Day 0. Keep my weekly eating habits during the weekend.
4. Day 0. Go to bed no later than 10:00 p.m. on weekdays. Wake up and work out or run by no later than 5:30 a.m. (I'm tipping the scales at 195 and need to be at 170 by new year.)
5. Day 0. Put the phone up no later than 10:00 p.m.

See y'all at lunch, bitches.

Well I naturally support you, but the site will be duller with fewer DSJ posts.

I should join in the weight loss attempt. I would very much like to get down to around 250 from the 275 I am now. I'm 6'6" so I can carry the weight without looking fat but my knees have enough trouble as is.

They say the ideal top weight for my height is 215 but not only has it been decades since I saw that weight range I remember weighing about that much and looking like a bean pole.

Good luck with the weight loss. Diet coke addicts seem to have problems with weight control. It's weird.

Ice cream is my kryptonite. I'm not overweight but that's because I'll skip a meal in order to have some Ben & Jerry's. Malnutrition always seems close to my horizon.

Because "diet" in its name is a misnomer. You're actually a little better off just drinking regular Coke in moderation if it's the cola you desire. They're both horrible for you though, but people see "diet" in the name and think it's fine to drink.

I'm flattered. But I've become addicted to trolling of late. It's not good for me.

That's my problem. I'm not fatty fatty two by four, but when I cross the 190 lbs. mark, my knees and legs let me know when I run. I want to run a marathon early next year, and I can't do it over 170 lbs.
