My grandfather had a house on the bay when I was a boy.

That being said, I have no idea if its a good place for a single guy. I just have fond memories of it.

Cool bars? Obviously the gulf is a huge attraction.

try out Callahan's. went there during Senior Bowl Week and enjoyed it.

the Bike Shop has some good food and it is a decent bar. It used to be my hang out but I hung out there too much... and ran up a nice tab

I don't know if there are very many new places in mid town but I plan on finding out this weekend. A lot of people I work with go out and do the power drinking thing but I try not to as much anymore. They were talking about going out somewhere in mid town. I'll try and remember to let you know what we find

Unless you are just in a tiny arse town, you can have fun if you make it fun.

I've seen lots of these cities starting kick ball leagues where young recent graduates go and drink beer and have fun. Always stuff to do and easy ways to find things going on with social media.

Mobile is better than Birmingham if that means anything.

So is taking a water-tower sized cock up the anal cavity...

I love Mobile. The bars are awesome. The women are gorgeous. Plus you're right down the road from the beach.

In addition, I'd much rather live there than major-league shite-holes like Atlanta and Birmingham. Atlanta is the most overrated city in America and Birmingham is a freaking joke.

Being in the state of Alabama is really holding that city back. Has potential to be really really cool and it's just, meh.

What does being in Alabama have to do with it? I don't think there's anything wrong with Mobile. Other than ATL (although ATL is a shiz-hole), it blows every other city in Georgia out of the water.

Plenty to choose from down there. My friends from Mobile worship that place.

Sweet bars, literally down the road from the beach, and a local minor league ballclub. Mobile is definitely my favorite city in AL. Plus it's about 45 minutes from where I grew up/live currently when I'm not in BR.

I like Mobile too. 1 hour from the beach, 2 hours from NOLA. Great location, nice size city...

I've lived in Birmingham and have now lived in Mobile for the last 5 years. While I think B'ham had better dining, shopping, much nicer neighborhoods, and was a prettier area, I actually like Mobile more. Mobile seems so much more relaxed and chilled out than Bham. You can be at GS/OB in an hour, Dauphin Island in 30 to 40 minutes, Biloxi casinos in an hour, and NOLA in 2 hours. If you want a another beach option Destin is only 2 hours away. People just seem a lot less uptight and more laid back here than in Bham too. As nice as some of the over the mountain Bham areas are, none of those areas can match the overall quality of life of the Fairhope, Daphne, Eastern Shore area imho. That area is just a great, great area to live for young couples all the way up to retirement age.
