I did one enlistment and got out. Never went overseas or anything. A lot of my friends are still in though. They're being royally screwed, and these are guys that have been in for fourteen or fifteen years and have been to war four and five times.

Including two that are being screwed over right now.
One who has been enlisted for fifteen years but barred from reenlisting because of cutbacks... four years short of retirement. Oh and he's been in for fifteen years.
Another still in, and after being a drill sergeant and after five tours overseas and fifteen years or service, logs on one day and tries to get additional educational assistance one year shy of a degree only to find out that it's no longer available.
Yes, I'm angry.
Oh, I joke about it, but I'm pissed, too.
Just weighing our options and getting out sure seems smarter than staying in at this point. Think we can both maximize our potential in the civilian world rather than putting all our eggs in the air force basket and risking getting screwed over down the line with the only consolation being some email basically saying, "That's the breaks.........but thanks for serving!
Yeah, proud to serve my country and all that jazz, but the Tbirds are gonna look out for the Tbirds first and foremost

I chickened out before signing up, I regret it now but it is what it is.

A to the MEN!
I read that phrase in a book in high school once--the author was intimating that one should eat to live and was advocating weight loss that way. I answered the question honestly and resolved to just keep the weight at bay the hard way. Through moderation and working out. I'll be damned if you tell me I can't eat a burger when I want to. Mild-mannered Tbird will Hulk out in a nanosecond

Here's what gets me--my last EPR, I almost got marked down because I wasn't taking any college classes. Problem is, I ALREADY HAVE A frickING COLLEGE DEGREE. And not from podunk Community College of the Air Force. A nationally respected institution of higher learning. I'm still paying off student debt, and now you wanna tell me that I have to pay for Master's courses out of pocket just for an EPR bullet? frick that shite.

My recommendation TBird, get out, find a power plant to work in, make a damn good living for your family and retire young.
Public utility is the way to go.

Yeah, I don't blame you. I don't know if the drawbacks are as bad in the USAF as the are in the Army, but my friend is coming up on sixteen years of service with a squeaky clean record and he was told that he couldn't reup.

Let's run, bro! Used to practically live at the Rec when I was on campus. Miss those days when you could go up almost any time day or night and get a quality game in. These folks up here in OK don't know jack about real basketball
You run point, I'll take the 3 spot

I have this awesome family I deal with. The mother is on disability for Type 2 diabeetus. Her 5 sons (3 different fathers) are ALL on disability. A couple for fricking ADD. One just played a full season of semi-pro football while on disability. "His back hurts sometimes."
Disability welfare is their family fricking business. And I have to deal with them, while working my job , while also going to school, while doing odd jobs like janitorial work at a doctor's office 2 nights a week, and bush-hogging at my Dad's while living in a shitty apartment with 1980s appliances all so that maybe one day in a couple years the mrs and i can buy a nice house.
My microwave has wood trim.

I lost 50lbs 5yrs ago by doing just that. I cut my intake in half. Didn't change what I ate, just ate less.
My inner fatass won't stand for a diet.

I know 3 people in literally the same position in the USAF right now. Air Force already screwed me over a little bit by not letting me commission (although some of that was on me, I admit). I'm signed on till 2017--if I haven't made officer by then, it's over.
And yeah, I'm already looking into public utility options in MO. We might settle up there if things fall right.

That's the thing. They're making it harder for experienced people to reup because it costs the gov't more. Look at how they've completely changed the retention. It's absurd.

Yup. Losing weight is simple, IMO: burn more calories than you consume. Do that long enough and weight will be lost.

Diets are stupid. Temporary fixes cuz most people go right back to what they were doing before they started the diet. Then act all surprised and disappointed when they're right back at square one
