I think this is the reason for the double standard. You have to view it in terms of economics to really understand. Only the best looking, wealthiest men in the world can view sex as a commodity. The rest of us can't even give it away half the time. Even a semi-attractive female hooker can charge $1000 an hour, and tons of women have parlayed sex into multi-millionaire lifestyles by sleeping with rich guys and getting knocked up though. So men who sleep around are just distributing an extremely cheap resource. Women who sleep around are giving away a commodity that can be worth millions. I wouldn't call them whores, so much as very poor businesspeople.

I have to disagree, here, at least from my standpoint, in my generation. I'm a little older, I'd guess, than most here. When I was younger, things were much more restricted, as far as sexuality goes, for females. Things seem to have loosened up a bit concerning the "double standard," but it really is still there. Every male I've ever known, and even the younger generation, make comments about "having a good time" with "sluts," but definitely wouldn't marry one. I know of no female who has made a similar statement about a male.

I mean I agree it is real, and guys like the thrill of the chase that is why they wouldn't "marry a slut", but that isn't the point I'm making. I'm saying the patterns in which a female sleeps around makes her appear much sluttier than a man, and that which resonates around a certain clinging to a certain social group. You can take that however you want, that is just from my personal experience.
