The cooler the better to start with. Jello, ice cream, yogurt and such. Steer clear of the sherberts though - tangy might burn and irritate.

That is pretty rough for an adult to go through, good luck.

after a little while, try eating:

Red Beans and rice
Mashed potatoes/baked potatoes
noodles/pasta dishes/mac and cheese

ETA: good look with the surgery. When I had surgery, I had a really bad reaction to the meds. I could eat yogurt and even TCBY yogurt but ice cream was too sweet and rich and made me throw up.

My daughter had hers out Spring Break of her HS Sr year. I am sure the Dr warned you and your parents it is much more serious when you are old...more chance for hemorrhaging so don't overdo it, even when you feel better.
If you are on hydrocodone it can very likely make you constipated, so oatmeal wouldn't be a bad idea. Quaker makes some very tasty flavord instant oatmeal. Here are some more"

Cheese grits. If you like garlic add that. Make sure anything you eat is not too hot.
Cold egg custard would get you some calories and be soothing.
REAL mashed potatos with added cheese for taste and calories
Scrambled eggs
You won't want anything that will be "scratchy" growing down.

Take care and again, don't overdo it.

Thanks all had the surgery this morning actually. My issue is that I have trouble peeing. Not sure if its just side effect from the medicine in the IV. Did anyone else have this problem?

You may be a bit dehydrated. Just drink plenty of non carbonated fluids. Try some cranberry Juice.

I was 18 when I had mine out. I waited six hours for a shot at DCH the Saturday night before finals' week my freshman fall at UA. If I had it all to do over again, I'd tell my friends not to visit me because laughing hurt like hell.
I'd also ask the Dr for an IV for about a week. There is no softie food that doesn't hurt going down for several days after that surgery.

Don't have them removed.

It's an unnecessary surgery, more dangerous than doctors will admit..

Some crooked doctor is ripping you off.

Doctors were straight up with me. Had them out yesterday. Just have to stay hydrated and make sure I don't bleed.
