I'm decent at poker but not nearly good enough to get into tournament play or anything like that. I used to play No Limit every weekend with a guy I dated at the time and a bunch of his friends. I hated when we get into games that just went long, long stretches. I'd end up getting bored and wanting to just go all in to get out.

What is this game called "poker" of which you speak?

the length in tourny format can be a problem. I use to play small home games with some people from td and even just a small 10 dollar buy in would last way too long. I really wish online poker would come back because i could sit there and play quick one table tournys and then maybe a big one on the cheap.
I just have a feeling if i played poker at the new casino id be tossed out for the kind of language that i like using at the table.

I go to the poker room at harrahs a decent amount. Usually early on Sunday morning because I don't have a big bankroll and have to be careful. But early on Sunday it is tourist for the most part with a lot of them still drunk and going from the night before. Makes them real loose with their bets and not too focused on the game.
But I am good at poker. I was a math major so I had a good feel for the odds. Have always wanted to count cards, but am afraid of getting my hands broken

No limit hold em cash games in casinos are bullshite. Tournaments are fine because everyone starts on equal footing, but if you sit down at a table with a couple of guys who have been there for hours and accumulated 1500+ in chips, you don't have much of a chance unless you get pocket kings or aces.

exactly but tournys in a casino take a long time. I still prefer the tourny over the cash game just because the tourny puts everyone on the same ground

I've never played at a casino but i always win whenever we do games with my friends so I guess I'm good

I'm an eagle scout and I would always play Texas hold em at camp and shite so I just got good from playing all the time. My freshman year at a&m, my dorm had a dorm wide Texas hold em tourney and I got like 2nd out of 200 people

They will definitely try to push you out. And you have to go in with enough money to survive giving up the blinds etc. But if you play it right and get a little lucky you can win big quick.
So whenever I go in and cant find a table with stacks comparable to mine, I'll go in with a strategy. A couple of the people will keep trying to push you out. You just gotta fold a lot at first. And wait for you good hand. They don't care about that much money so a lot of times you can draw them in with shite cards. Of course there are those times where you don't get any cards for a long long time but thats poker. You are bound to lose some.

i learned from watching on tv and playing online. they use to laugh when i played games with friends because i couldn't shuffle worth a frick. they would be like what the frick why can't you shuffle and i was like because i play online i dont need to shuffle.
i used that to my advantage though to either have them do the work or id slowly shuffle and make note of what cards were in what spots.

I'm too conservative to do well in tournaments. I will generally throw away anything worse than pocket 9s unless I have suited connectors and it's cheap to see the flop. You have to be willing to play shite cards and bluff your way into pots to advance very far.

I cant shuffle for shite either

Tournaments are tough. A friend of mine had a bookie that he paid in full every single week. So after a year or so the bookie had noticed us playing a little poker and would come to collect. The bookie got us two into a the poker circuit and they had a big tournament every year. (As big as an underground poker circuit in Tuscaloosa can get I guess). Those guys knew how to play too. I went out pretty quick the first year. But did pretty good the next two.
I also learned how to actually play poker in those years where as before I just thought I did.

im fairly conservative to start a tourny. if i catch a big hand early then i like to try and get someone all in allowing me to take control with a big stack so i can expand my play. I find that having 3-4 drinks improves play because i can be more patient but i also will be willing to take just enough more risk. If i have too many though then i get out of hand
I like showing my cards when i bluff, i enjoy embarrassing the other person and then saving it for later making them think i have nothing so then i can strike with a good hand.
