I think we will find a way to make cars work (batteries, etc) long before we get public transit into widespread use

Its a different mindset to use public transit, one that Americans (particularly rural Americans) loathe. Cars are about freedom to go anywhere anytime. Public transit is "restrictive" and "socialist" (not really). It would be nice to add some light rail infrastructure but it wouldn't see enough use due to our culture

Exactly, my civil engineering degree from Arkansas will get me a job where I want to live and I won't have $120k in loans to pay off

Makes sense to me. But my parents can't brag to upper crust socialites about their kid at MIT..so what

But who the frick cares (as you said)?

In about 4 years, have moms invite Pretentious Patty and her upper-crust snobs to the crib for hors d'oeuvre and champagne.

You'll look up to no one.

Pricy college (read: overpriced northeast private schools) is the next bubble

It seems that you would have a different view of it if Arkansas was a better funded research school.

This is partially true. But the underlying problem is he dumb.

Ha.

So those scoffing at the TAMU program because its not a MIT is the equivalent of Stanford law looking down at those receiving JDs from Georgetown or NYU.

A truly insignificant distinction.
