Congrats, you finally got an image to work!
I never said Missouri doesn't have some decent state parks and such. You're arguing against yourself there
No you're arguing against yourself dumbshit! That's "hemmed in hollow" on the Buffalo near Ponca r-kansas. It's just the tallest waterfall in the mid continent U.S. that you had no idea existed. You're some outdoor recreationist aren't you.
Be very, very embarrassed cause you sure showed your arse on this one. Crawl away or better yet get from behind the keyboard for a change and actually see some of the state your bragging about so much.
The term for you is pwnd.

Leave the breakthroughs to the private universities. The taxpayers are paying for qualified students to fill jobs in the state. That is the role of a state university
That's one of the roles of a state university.
Some mind-blowing research break-throughs have emerged from many a public IHE.
A solid undergraduate program and a stellar environment for research are not mutually exclusive characteristics.

Then ask it on the correct board.

Its a nondescript photo of a waterfall
What point are you even trying to make?
ETA: Been to Ponca btw

Yep, once we get infinite budgets that is a great idea
Until then, we have to pick one or the other

You really need to stop, you're embarrassing yourself.
Here's a test, show that picture to 20 people tomorrow and report back how many identified your "non descriptive photo".
You will be lucky if you don't get laughed out of the state.
EDIT: And then get your arse on the river and float Ponca to Pruitt. Make sure to hike to "hemmed in hollow" - It's 7/10ths of a mile and a easy hike. I promise you will thank this Mizzou fan when you do.

I happen to disagree with you; but it's a very interesting topic for debate.

OT?
All you gotta do is ask.

Lets say we have three dollars for funding this year. How do you divide it up?

Eh, I don't like posting over there. Not many Missouri fans would see it
Here, plenty saw it and yet no one has answered

Ok if you want honesty time, I didn't even read your post and I just saw the pic and responded. Should've looked in hindsight, I assumed you would pump rainbows up Missouri but instead you were recognizing the beauty of the Natural State
If you are actually located in "Eureka!" I have been over that way numerous times. Neat town and area. One of my good friends is from over there
ETA: And I don't think I will hit up the Buffalo tomorrow, it may be a little chilly out. This summer though, definitely

Good question. Off the top of my head ... I don't know ... 65% --> UG; 35% --> Grad?
Grad programs are better able to fund themselves, as well as contribute to the university coffers.

I don't know, I'm not an administer.
But I do know that the AAU provides funds in addition to whatever funding is already budgeted to the school.
It just seems odd that someone would poo-poo the idea of a state school conducting research. Especially with schools such as Cal, aTm, Texas, Michigan,.... being all public institutions.
It seems that you would have a different view of it if Arkansas was a better funded research school.

I don't think research is useless. I think it should be second behind competent undergrad education.
But to say that undergrad education doesn't suffer at the expense of research didn't go into a technical field. Overworked professors choose research over students every time, that is how students suffer
I think we have a private sector that can research but can't teach

You are out of your ever-loving mind!
I didn't wade through all this nonsense, but in case no one has answered your original question... according to the release from the University, the Missouri Department of Transportation issued a no travel order. The poor economy has impacted MODOT's budgets, and they have fewer people available to work on cleaning roads. So, in anticipation of significant snowfall, on top of ice in some areas, they are asking people to stay home. So the University is closed except for critical personnel.
Now you have your answer. Please take your Mizzou obsesssion and GTFO.
