Just to be fair, the players bought the melons and said if they win they would eat as a team together.

It became a tradition.

Also, the lone black player started a petition to get the coach his job back.

That's based on one opposing parent.

The black kid on the team wants the coach to not be fired.

im gonna bank on it being more PC bull shite.

thinking critically about the situation I highly doubt many kids these days would do something the coach told them to do for openly racist reasons against their own race.

Lots of kids don't know the connection/stereotype. Hell, I didn't know about it (thankfully) until I was a college freshman. It just never came up and I always associated with the south in my mind.

However, this IS South Carolina and the coach ought to have known. Maybe he deserves forgiveness and maybe not (I can't judge his heart) but the school system did the right thing by acting immediately given all the watermelon racism going around lately as well as the location.

This has got to be "top five" dumbest shite ever typed on an internet message board. I am forever grateful for your contribution.

See "University of Mississippi" for the College/University equivalent.

So what if it is South Carolina? I live here and have my entire life and based on the crap going on in the rest of the nation, racial strife hardly even exists here. Way too much PC crap going on these days. I just don't agree with judging a whole by a part. If other places/states are having issues, they need to deal with them there. But don't proceed to pass judgement on a coach that did nothing wrong bc of issues elsewhere.

Actually fire him for the mere stupidity of the situation. it's 2014 and this idiocy needs to be left behind in the dustbin of history.
