Nike's Market Value Surges By $6 Billion After Controversial Kaepernick Ad

Contrary to President Donald Trump’s claim that Nike would get “killed” by its decision to sign an endorsement deal with former NFL player Colin Kaepernick, the sportswear giant appears to be thriving.
As CBS News reported Friday, Nike’s market value has surged by nearly $6 billion since the company unveiled Kaepernick ? who sparked controversy as the instigator of protests by NFL players against racism and police brutality ? as the star of a provocative ad campaign.
“Just like the NFL, whose ratings have gone WAY DOWN, Nike is getting absolutely killed with anger and boycotts,” the president tweeted in the days after the ad’s launch.
Nike’s share prices were quick to rebound from that initial dip, however, and in recent weeks have been performing near an “an all-time high,” CBS said.
The company has sold out 61 percent more merchandise since releasing its Kaepernick ad, Reuters reported last week. Nike also discounted fewer products in the 10-day period after the ad compared to the 10-day period before its release.
Kaepernick is Nike's new $6B man

The type that are swayed by causes are fickle. Sell or short Nike before next quarter's sales figures are published.

Congrats on your "win."
This definitely will reduce shootings, fatherless homes, and poverty rates in the black community.
Back in the day, a person wearing pig-cop socks would be rebuked into a permanent abyss.

It's been shown black and Spanish people spend astronomically more money per person on athletic shoes than any other races.
Nike knew what they were doing. No question about it.

Looking at the Reuters article it appears Nike took a small hit then rebounded like the ad made no difference.
Shocking.
Shocking.

Are we sure this is due to the Kap ad or is it more corilated to the start of football and school starting?

Market value isn't the same thing as sales. Give it a few quarters of data

I think the media and nation as a whole way over values the amount of people who really give two shits about Kaepernick or who stands/kneels for the flag. Only the extremely uneducated waste time thinking or concerning themselves about it either way.

Means nothing until quarterlies come out

Nike got millions of dollars of free press through right wing outrage. All attention is good attention.

The ad distracted people from the sexual harassment and discrimination lawsuit.
