FO gonna have some tough decisions to make. I think ultimately we’re gonna have to part ways/trade someone who’s very valuable to the team. The easy answer for me starts with Andrus Peat. He’s gonna be taking an average of 12.5/yr cap space starting next year. We can go find another guard high in the draft to do what peat does which is be injured often and be a turnstile in games that matters. Not sure what we can get for him in a trade but I think Hendrickson is more important to keep than peat going forward. I don’t see anyone giving more than a 5th for him due to the large contract. Here’s Peat’s earnings and cap hit for the next few years.

The other not so popular opinion would be Armstead. I for one would not want this option but he’s often injured. If we can get a nice haul for him it would maybe be worth it (maybe not). Just sucks because when he’s on the field he’s top 5 in the league.

Bottom line is we need to keep Hendrickson on this team. If we can cut bait with Peat while keeping Hendrickson in my opinion would be the right move to make

I was surprised like everyone else on the Peat contract.

But not the Saints.

They wanted him and got him. His contract is not attractive to anyone but the Saints. He is our till 2023.

I don't see any other outcomes till then.

We couldn’t give Peat away with that albatross of a contract.

He’s gone.

I love the guy but I think his stats are better than his play tbh.

His stats alone this year will make him starting DE money but the staff knows he’s currently not DE1 or 2 caliber

He may one day be an elite DE but he’s not there yet, he will follow the money and hopefully get a good opportunity where he can continue to develop

It seems you don’t understand how these contracts work. So you want to get rid of peat (understandable at times) to keep another player who has been hurt every year minus this year and is having his only good season of his career so far? And your plan is to trade Peat for cap savings? You realize by trading him you accelerate his signing bonus snd we actually get maybe 1 million in savings. So yes, sign Hendrickson to a 1 million dollar deal that you get from trading peat. Hendrickson isn’t a player we “have” to sign and honestly we won’t sign. You’re going to see guys like Marcus Williams and trey. Hendrickson walk. You’ll see them extend Lattimore and Ram, both whom are more valuable to this team and by doing so that actually does free up significant amounts of cash for us next year. I’ve said this for a while snd your mention of trading Armstead is the most likely of anyone being traded and i believe he will be. If he does manage to finish the year healthy his stock will be as high as it will ever get. He would fetch a first snd of not at least a 2nd and some change and relieve us of actual real money. All these moves are needed to even get under the cap. Let alone signing Hendrickson to a bloated contract.

I hate to say this cause I like Trey but his cost is gonna be way too high for what you get. He is not “best in the NFL” sack leader. He is more akin to what happened to Vic Beasley a few years ago IMO. He is getting sacks because the good players are getting more attention and he is getting easy matchups. He is gonna get paid WAY too much for what he is.

Everyone keeps saying this but you have to be a three down DE.
He is mainly a 3rd down DE right now. He may get a better contract than we can afford but I just don't see him getting top DE money
