I've been looking at these for a while now and I'm thinking about pulling the trigger. They sound great for the price and I think the quality is better than an equally priced Martin. Anyone have one of these or another Blueridge model? The BR-160A is the only model I've played.

Before I got my Larrivee, I had a Blueridge. Loved that guitar. Great guitar for the money.

I believe it was the BR-140A. It wasn't anything fancy, but just a good guitar. Very Martin-esque, just not as "solid" if that makes any sense.

I got mine.

Blue ridge BR 160. I’m not sure if it is an “A”. Doesn’t that mean Adirondack spruce instead of regular Sitka? Anyway mine has the aged finish on it. It’s a 2006.

I got it for (here’s where I live to toot my own horn) $399 at GC about 2 years ago now. I LOVE that guitar. Since buying it I’ve picked up many other guitars to justify it. I would probably have to spend 1200-1500 to get the same sound.

You will not find a Martin or taylor under $1000 that will sound or be made as well.

It is a straight up D-28 copy. Does it sound as good as a real D-28? Nope. But it is definitely close enough to my ear to balance out the $2000 you save.

Check them used on GC. They always have some. I think someone labeled mine as a BR-140. But you will find them around 500 bucks. It should come with a case. If not, wait for one that does. Always have 45 days to hand it back to guitar center and try again if the one you get is funky or smells like a bar.

yes, the "A" is for an adirondack top instead of a sitka top. I just pulled the trigger on a like new used br-160. I got it for $556 and it goes for $899 new.

They're great.

$550 is nothing for what you get. You'd have to triple that for a new anything else. Triple to get the same quality.

You got a $500 "almost" D28. And it depends on the d28. In all my searching I've picked up one that immediately when I strummed I said "yep. This one wins!"

It was an Eric Clapton model OM or 00 28 signature. took one strum and I knew. But I have an extra $3000 in my pocket.

That's my endorsement.

ETA. With women as with guitars. Pics or GTFO.

Probably the best bang for the buck if you are wanting a "martin"style guitar. The adirodick tops can be a little harsh at first and need to be broke in. For chordal stuff you can't beat the Sitka tops but the adi tops can "cut through" much better

I have no in-hand experience with Blueridge so no input from me on that. But to speed up any solid top acoustic's "breaking in" period a little, keep it on a stand in your den near your TV, surround sound and/or home entertainment system. Those speakers will vibrate the top just like strummed strings.

Whenever you do have to tear into one let us know what you find. I think they are great, but if you find cardboard and staples in there let me know so I will quit singing their praises.

They are getting pricier so they are becoming almost worth having bigger jobs done one them. So maybe you’ll see one eventually.
