Amazon new sci-fi series: Tales from the Loop (available now)
Posted by PhilipMarlowe on 4/3/20 at 12:28 am72
Trailer
quote:
Tales from the Loop explores the mind-bending adventures of the people who live above the Loop, a machine built to unlock and explore the mysteries of the universe - making things previously relegated to science fiction, possible.
Looks pretty interesting, and has solid reviews. Will be starting this weekend.

Watched the first two episodes last night. A little slow, but overall pretty good.

Good to hear. I’m kind of expecting a slow-burn, contemplative type show. Think I’m about to start it in a couple hours.

So far it is a winner.

Yeah I’m a few episodes in, and I’m really enjoying it.

5 episodes in (in a row). This is a phenomenal show. My favorite so far this year.

Just finished episode 4, wow.
Spoilers:
I thought the way the episode dealt with death was pretty incredible. I love the pacing of this show. I could see it not being for everyone, but for me it has been perfect so far.

I made a thread about this yesterday because TD's search feature did not pull up this thread.
I just finished E5 last night. The pacing is very slow but I like how each episode focuses completely on a different character in the town and how they are all connected. It has a very Twilight Zone feel due to the tales they tell and the way in which they tell them.
The heaviness of the stories and the plodding pace make this a series I can't binge in a day, but they are so interesting that it makes me want to watch an episode or two per day (thus stretching out the series, in a way).

Thru 3 episodes. Me like. Slow burns are the best.

Most reviews are saying it's great but slow

Check out the artists work too, it’s what the show is inspired by. Amazing stuff

apart from the stories that I’m really enjoying the music has been solid. whoever is in charge of soundtrack selections has great taste. A few I’ve noticed so far:
Jim Sullivan - So Natual
Television Personalties - diary of a young man
James Carr - dark end of the street
Misfits - Skulls
Karen Dalton - take me
And also the score from Philip glass.

Right off the bat they started with the song from the ending of the leftovers so I think I’ll like this

Interesting artwork. The show really makes you wonder what is going on outside of that town.

Finished this last night, and then rewatched episode 1. Wow is all I can say.
Major spoiler:
Don’t read if you haven’t seen the whole series....
The little girl tells her son in episode 1 that she would always be there for her child. In episode 8 she tells him that she told him she would always be there.
The shape of the house after it disappears is an egg, the shape around Jakob the robot is an egg. The scenes of the egg falling and breaking then reversing, the soccer ball returning to where it came in the stream. The frozen lake in episode one with the little girl throwing a rock (that she had in her jewelry box as and adult), the frozen stream. They didn’t miss a detail.

Finally finished it, and really enjoyed it. It was such a nice change of pace from the crime shows I typically watch. Also loved the Shane Carruth cameo in the finale, someone else who knows a thing or two about time travel.
I hope there’s going to be a second season.

I have loved his artwork for a while, I can’t wait to see the show.
On only Episode 4 but frick it's good.
Reminds me of Black Mirror/Leftovers but way less bleak.
Music is incredible
I love how the next episode is connected to the previous one, etc.
It's a nice touch
