It’s wide open this year and anyone’s to take

Why not Max?

His stats are ridiculous and he’s getting better each game. If we go 10-2 or 9-3 I can see him being in NYC

Uh, press the brake pedal please.

Not so fast as a well-known CFB announcer often says...

While I like the enthusiasm, I don't think a win at home over a rebuilding Auburn team will get him there. It's about the optics in this race as well, and LSU hasn't exactly had a storybook season. Factor in last years mess and I'd say he needs to beat everyone on the schedule, and give Bama all they can handle to sniff New York this year.

Not saying it can't happen, but the quality of opponents we have played so far, doesn't exactly paint a picture of what he's going to look like for the rest of the season. But I am pulling hard for him to do so, because as in 2019, as the QB goes, so does the team (in most cases).

Define big. He threw 4 TD’s last week and he’s no where near being mentioned.

Because we throw the ball like 80% of the time. He doesn't make clutch plays, "normal" people (outside of P&G glass wearers) see most of his throws are under 15 yards and the receivers do the work.

If the O line doesn't improve...and fast. Max may not finish the season. They are going to get him killed as LSU starts to face legit SEC D lines.

There’s no hype surrounding him this season.

He would have to ball out every game from here and even then, isn’t guaranteed the trophy.

He’s got a better shot next season.

If somehow that happens , yeah it’s possible.
He’s 2nd in the country in TD passes and top 15 in yards.

But LSU plays Bama , Tamu, UF, Arkansas…. so don’t put too much $ on it.

No it wouldn’t. There’s 4 games that could. A&M Bc the media is still obsessed with them. Arky, Bc they’re really good and will be highly ranked, Bama Bc you know, and the sec championship. If by some miracle those happened yes. If not he could still be looking at 1st team all SEC.

The National media likes to associate Heisman with a team that has a chance that can win a National championship.

LSU would have to win out for him to have a chance.

If we were 4-0, yes. Mediocre teams do not produce heisman candidates...

I'm just hoping for more consistency and want to see him adjust his deep throws. He's doing a very good job of putting an arc on his throws to make a catchable pass, but he needs to trust his WRs ability to run to the ball.

I know he doesn't have a cannon, but I don't think it's as much an issue of his arm strength as it is his perception of how far to throw. I'd rather see him overthrow a play or two just to loosen up the D.

Do you guys have the memory of a goldfish? It's like you've never watched an elite qb. Win does not equal qb must be amazing. Boutte is our Heisman contender.

There are always pass happy teams with incredible stats that never come close to the Heisman race. Without a stellar record he won’t be mentioned. A great game against a great team is what he needs.
