Been there many many times. Lots of chain food places in Hoover and environs. Nothing outstanding at all.

Homewood is a great area for restaurants that no one ever seems to talk about.

I’ve always wanted to try the Cajun steamer. I always hear good things and they advertise on JoX FM

Saw's Soul Food Kitchen in Avondale, Little Donkey Mexican in Homewood with Steel City Pops next door (get the Buttermilk popsicle, it will change your life.) Avondale has the brewery and Post Office Pies pizza. B-Ham has a ton of really amazing food and fun places.

Saw's Soul Food Kitchen in Avondale,

I’m fairly sure I ate here and it was good. We picked up the food and brought it a couple of doors down to a brew pub with a nice courtyard. There’s a speakeasy around the corner from here, as well. Birmingham is a nice, clean town.

ETA: That is the place and Avondale Brewing is the brew pub. The speakeasy is The Marble Ring. Good times.

Why would anyone travel to Birmingham from South Louisiana and eat at a Cajun restaurant?

2. Vulcan--for the view
3. Barons game/Good People brewery--if you haven't had enough baseball!)

You’re welcome.

Lived there for three years. Best food in town in my opinion is Gianmarco’s in homewood. Excellent Italian food.

Saws is great barbecue.

I like taco mama better than little donkey for Mexican. El barrio is one of the better Mexican places I have been to anywhere.

Hope this helps.

For a chain, Village Tavern is really good.
