Please tell me this a breaker issue

Was headed to bed with the fan and fan lights on in the master bedroom, go to turn the tv on boom entire room goes out. Went to check the rest of the house and every room and every thing is running just fine, including the master bath. Went to the breaker box, not tripped, but did a reset and gave it a wiggle, only light that came back on in the room was the master closet. Anything else besides for a bad breaker? Everything is turned off and unplugged in the room currently.

Check for a GFCI outlet around the wall of the bedroom, shouldn't really be one, but maybe, and see if it's tripped.

It's hard to say, but you really need someone to come in and check that. Was it a loud pop? If so, sounds like a main feed wire went to ground. That is not good at all due to the fact it can be anywhere in the walls or ceiling. A fire can happen very easy, so DO NOT reset it till a pro comes in.

Could be anything on that circuit, bad outlet, switch, wiring, etc. Had something similar and found a loose outlet behind my desk.

Same thing here, ended up being a bad outlet.

Home was built in 1972. I do not remember hearing a loud pop just everything going out in the room.

Is the "entire room" everything that is on that circuit or are other loads present and still functioning? For example, is the master bath on the same circuit? If so, the problem is not likely to be the breaker.

Not too sure. Had to leave for work before I investigate a little more. Anyone recommend a electrician in BR?

there's plenty of troubleshooting you can do on your own with a $5 voltmeter and about 20 minutes of time searching youtube. Check every outlet and switch before hiring an electrician. Changing a breaker is stupid easy too. The only real need for an electrician in a house is to wire a panel. If you can work a screwdriver and match colors, you can be do home electrical repair.

It sounds like a circuit.
I am am moron when it comes to electricity, and I figured out a similar problem using YouTube and a little pen that detects electricity.

Likely a loose wire on one of your outlets.
Wiggle the plug going into each of them and see if lights come on or flicker. And if nothing is plugged into that outlet, plug something in to wiggle it.
The outlet that has the loose wire will be the one that causes the flicker. Pull it out and look for a loose wire/burned connection.
That would be my second step after checking the breaker.
Third step, call an electrician.
Additionally, could be an outlet in the hall or adjacent bedroom too.

You may have an arc fault breaker for that circuit. I believe that current code requires them for bedrooms. Those have a tendency to go bad more often than others.

Most likely a bad outlet somewhere in the chain that feeds the room. Get a non contact voltage sensor and you can check each outlet / switch to see where the power is and is not. Happens a lot with older back stabbed outlets / switches.
It is also possible that your breaker is bad, or the bus bar is burnt where that breaker connects. We had one do that in an older house. I ended up having to get a new breaker and move it to a new slot where the bus bar was not burnt.
The fact that part of the circuit works and part doesn't really doesn't sound like the breaker though.
We also lived in an even older house that had all the outlets terminated in the ceiling box where the light or fan was for each room. I ended up with a burnt wire nut in one box that tripped the breaker, but once reset the light worked but the outlets were all dead. Didn't find the reason until I pulled the light fixture. I guess back then they didn't require the lights and outlets to be on different circuits.

Before I could get back home the wife, who was worried about a fire, decided to call an electrician. Ended up being a bad beaker that had burnt. Thanks for all the help gents, wish I could have looked into it sooner.

Just curious, how much did they charge?
