I'm far from an expert, but it looks similar to my issue. I just bumped my thread from a couple of weeks ago. There is some hope to treat it. Do you have an issue with moths in your yard? Once I realized the number of moths I had, that was my aha moment.

Those teeth marks on the grass , are good indicators.
They should slow down or stop with cooler weather.

Yours may already be done feeding. Maybe not. Either way, get some Anderson’s Duocide from Amazon and put it down or hold it for next year when they return. I struggled with the worms for a few years and last year started putting this down in the evening immediately when I first see damage (check every day or two). This kills them instantly and grass has a full recovery.

What do the moths indicate? My backyard is roughly 1/2 acre of grass and I have large brown patches similar to what OP posted. The area of my yard opposite of the brown patches has thousands of moths in it recently.

Moths are the adult version of the worms that cause the damage. It could be they are moving to fresh grass to lay next round of eggs.

Anyone know if this cool front will take care of them?

Advocate article on sod webworms and how to treat
Says the cool weather will slow the life cycle but not kill them out.

I put down Talstar in May and June For mole crickets. I do see a couple small spots that seem to be webworm damage. Should I go ahead and spread the rest of the bag? I guess it won’t hurt. Or is it too late.

Article says spray is better, but if you have granular on hand go for it.

To help control sod webworms, use an insecticide with the active ingredient bifenthrin. LSU AgCenter entomologist Sebe Brown recommends liquid rather than granular applications for better control. You will need to retreat the lawn again in seven days to kill any newly hatched eggs.
