I'm looking at possibly doing my own landscaping around my home. Looking at the rocks 18-24" around home then the beds from there.

What do you need pics for? The gravel strip is for roof spalsh and drainage.

kind of

it keeps soil and mulch away from the house. you can put a perforated pipe in there to remove water fast and not let it sit around your foundation

Look in Southern Living, and mimic what they have. Otherwise, hire a professional so you don't have to pay for it twice.

Do it. Planting a row of boxwoods in front of your house is not landscaping. You need color, texture, bloom seasons, motion, accents, etc. Make your house look like it should.

We didn’t do it ourselves, but we have rocks (i think the ones we have are river rocks) around the house. I think the width is 18” from the house to the beds with metal edging before the bed begins. I really like the look of it.

You hire someone or you are a landscape architect? I’m strongly considering hiring someone ahead of spring planting. I need serious help.

If you do it drive to forest hill with a big trailer and buy all of your plants and flowers from Doug Young Nursery. You’ll save a few thousand $. I’ll probably bid out the labor and go buy the plants myself when I do it. I’ve don’t that on 2 previous houses.

This is a portion of my flower beds. It is a mix of random plants, we tend to have some perennial plants and then add in other stuff during the year. Things that do well stay in the rotation, things that don’t get placed on the do not buy again list

This is my current strategy. I’m sick of annuals and switching to a hodge podge of perennials. I like the look or organized chaos vs straight lines and mono plantings.

Worse thing I did was put too small. Especially boxwood. Don’t be cheap like me

I actually like small and short. I absolutely hate when things cover the front of my house. That is why I am ripping out crepe myrtles and hedges from my new house.
