I’m usually decent at using the bounce, but the ground just gives so much with the rain we had so I can’t seem to make consistent solid contact.

What adjustments do I need to play these shots?

I never pitch in these conditions unless there is an obstacle in my path.

I suck at these shots so I can't offer any advice. It gets in my head and I always hit it thin trying to pick it clean off the grass

I’m struggling with the club/ground interaction. I just can’t seem to keep the bounce from entering the mud.

I played non-obstacle shots with a putter or hybrid today with decent results.

Never put the ball back in your stance or hit with the leading edge. Try to let the bounce do the work to keep the club sliding through the mud and keep the club face to the sky through impact. Unfortunately, this just takes a lot of practice to get the feel and confidence in the shot.

ETA - shite, I apparently didn’t read your post at all. Saw you already tried using the bounce and it’s not working. Here’s a nice vid on different ways you can approach it. LINK

Hands up higher at address to where it’s almost one line going from arms to shaft. That puts the toe on the ground more and will help with these shots. Also helpful for chips against the grain.

Thanks, I will try this. I do this when I chip with a hybrid.

I like to think about pointing the shaft at or over the ball on the downswing for as long as possible. This keeps the hands ahead and prevents from flipping the club. Works for me at least but those wet, tight, lies off Bermuda down south are brutal.
