Kyle Trask is going to kill it in Mullens system.

People always ask what's going to happen with the QB situation next year and I always said: Watch for Trask. Big, athletic and has a strong arm. Corral and Trask will be fighting for the position.

It's just depressing that he didn't get to start -- Texas has really bizarre transfer rules for high schools.

You can call me a conspiracy theorist but they brought him in for depth and then when the practices started they realized what they had and didn't want him to start for whatever stupid reason.

Same thing happened with Grier and Treon.

I still think Appleby was better than Del Rio but they spent time grooming the wrong guy.

Then when Del Rio was the best option they go with Franks and never give Zaire a shot until there was a coaching change.

Go back and watch 2016 spring game. Trask was clearly better than Franks. Go back and watch this years Spring game. Trask only got one drive with the first teamers and got a touchdown. They held that kid back. I heard all summer that during spring Trask had the better arm and read defenses better but they wouldn't give him first team snaps.

Mullen is going to walk into this job and say damn "we got the right kids in the wrong spots".

trask is not a statue either. trask, allen and corral to go with franks? i'm not optimistic on franks, but ya never know i guess.

i don't expect us to beat lsu and georgia next year because of our inexperience at qb. lsu will be in the same boat at qb, but the defense they're gonna have next year is frightening. they'll literally have two top flight defensive lines.

If Franks was named the starter next season, most of us would be pretty upset. He's never shown even the slightest hint of actually being a good, let alone mediocre quarterback.

To olemc: I was talking about how he never got the opportunity at Texas before he came here. I think he wants the possibility of a Gray shirt for this season which is why they put him on the injury list.

I not only think he's better than Franks, but even with Zaire I'll wager he's the best quarterback on our roster and will start if Corral doesn't come in and light it up next year.

I highly doubt it will be Franks. Trask seems interesting but I thought we were going to start Corral immediately. All coaches know they have a pass year one to "build". Perfect chance to start the best QB prospect since Grier and let him take his lumps.

We need Trask to start and Corral to get a year in the system, but Corral will probably be the backup no matter who starts. He will probably get packages for him, too, to help evaluate.

He could easily start ahead of Trask, too, but we just have to wait for Mullen to evaluate.

Franks is done at Florida at QB, period.

I'm with you that Franks is likely done.

Who knows. I would think he tries to go rookie because he knows he has that first year pass. Corral has insane upside. I think most Gator fans would be okay going 8-4 with Corral, and setting up for year 2. The magic year for elite coaches.

Well this my thought on the issue. Mullen loves to use QBs as power rushers. All of his QBs except for 2?were in the 230-245 lb range. Trask is at 232 and Corral is at 196. I do think Mullen will adapt his system to his personnel but he loves that QB power run. And I do too, if you need 2 yards or less, you move the chains every time in his system.

I think Trask could be our QB next year...but he doesn't possess the arm strength close to either Appleby or Franks who have cannons. Watching practice drills it took Trask slightly longer to throw...a millisecond if you will..but he can offset that with leadership and skills at running and hopefully will have great ball security.

We don't need arm strength, man. We need someone who can manage the game and give us first downs. I'd love to have a vertical threat for the next few decades, but we do not have the personnel to open it up. We have to have a guy who can at least read a blitz and get it out of his hands fast enough.

Franks had a huge arm and could never be successful for more than one series at a time.

Yes he does love the power run his offense is all about it. I think he can easily adapt it for the passing skills of Carral though.

Let's just be brutally honest though. We all love Corral, he is the savior of our class...but...

Fields would win a Heisman under Dan. I don't like doing it to Corral, but freak. Fields would be the next Tebow/Cam type player.

Well honestly he could talk to Fields and flash the Dak hole card and ask Fields if he wants to be in the NFL. Dak is fresh and playing for America's team...recruits know him and he can be tempting bait for QBs.

We have a lot of ground with him.

Our offense suits him better
We offer an immediate starting position, Georgia is may be third string and red shirt.
He likes Florida we recruited him earlier.

So we could give it a strong go.

Bro, the system is gonna be new for everybody. Corral will be just as experienced in the system as Trask come the spring game. Corral should start day 1 unless Nick Fitzgerald decided to follow Mullen and use his final year here (wishful thinking but one can hope).
