Higdon, even without Steele and Pittman says that we'll get a top ten class. He basically told everyone to relax (as always) and says that we're exaggerating what we know in regards to what the 'board' looks like.

He said that our net is a lot larger than most of the 'top' recruits and that many of them aren't nearly as far ahead as people think. He mentioned Steele and said that there are at least five guys on the board that are on the same level or higher and that there are many players people don't even know about.

He also said that the staff feels really good about mostly everything right now, and gave a brief update of FNL. Apparently we have some surprises showing up on campus.

Our recruiting class will be fine, haters and anti-gators just love to criticize and bash or coaches.

What is most important is next season. We have to win some games and show some improvement on offense and next year the recruiting job will be much easier.

I certainly hope it’s better than it looks.

This is exactly what the staff wants him to say.

Spivey completely screwed up saying Pierre was not a take. Then he said UF has a LB coach named Brian Robinson. No one has a source on staff besides Higdon.

I like Pierre. Fast athletic LB. Big enough for the SEC at 6'3" 220. Local Orlando people are high on him.

Highjack, sorry.

Straws - were you at a taco mac yesterday? I was there after work and a guy at the bar said he was killing time until he flies back to Mexico City.

Nah man, I move from city to city soundlessly.

That being said, to the rest: Higdon legitimately knows what our board looks like, he legitimately knows what the staff wants (this is true) but I think the staff has a lot better of a grip on the reality of recruiting than we do at the moment.

Or at least we hope they do.

Also: Our entire 2018 class is officially enrolled and on campus! No casualties, clean slate.

Saw that as well. Gators put out everybody’s new number and Copeland was listed as well as Grimes and V. Jefferson

I think Higdon is doing what the staff wants ultimately, which is take some heat off of them. I don’t think they have emphasized the right region, way too many West Coast kids. However, I’ll also state I don’t think recruiting is as bad as some of our own fans and rivals fans are saying. Truth is in the middle of what Higdon is putting out and those that are criticizing this early.

On Higdon being the PR Tzar: I don't know, he's said negative things in the past, but even just following certain people on Twitter I think the staff is probably doing a better job than we think. Not because it's all rose-tinted glasses, but just because I think they know what they're doing. They secured 68% Blue chips last year (including transfers), they should hit that area.

On California: We have 4 targets and could go anywhere from 0/4 to literally 4/4. The closer we get to commitment day for Steele and Pittman the better I feel about our chances. Of course, I don't like Steele wearing Florida Gator gear for the Opening because that's usually a death sentence...but.

Ethan Rae we have a good chance.
Steele to me is 50/50.
Pittman is definitely in our favor (in spite of Oregon making up ground)
And Tauanu'u seems to like the staff.

It's not like we have 10 targets, and I think Tauanu'u contacted us at the USC camp so what do we have to lose?

What makes you say that about Pittman?

Just following his recruitment in general, he seems really high on the Gators and I think he was looking for a promise last week after making some statements regarding the depth chart at WR.

He said a few days ago/a week ago that he was concerned with where he would end up since we had Copeland, Watkins, Jefferson and Grimes and that Oregon "needed him more", then he came back and clarified: Mullen said that I could come in immediately and compete.

This is also directly after Watkins being moved to CB, too.

So, I hope with Watkins moving over and our WR Corps just not living up to its hype that Pittman will take a harder look.

That being said, if he's afraid of our depth chart there's little we can do to win his favor.

Steele to USC and I'm going to retract my optimism about Pittman over Copeland's Tweet.

Just in case no one saw what Copeland said: " 2019 recruits scared to come compete. "

I think we might recruit a little more at home next time around -- and of course as I say this we've just offered a DT from UCLA.

I think having Elam and Blades on campus for FNL is big news, and we've picked up some other pretty good players. Steele really hurts, because we were probably leading up until the end. Pittman is less painful with Higgins coming on the board. Higgins is legit ready to play tomorrow and will probably get his 5th star.

Can't wait for FNL.

We are the laughing stock of the sec in recruiting right now.

It doesn’t matter right now though.

I do think Mullen is smart enough that if they don’t close strong in a bump class he will realize he needs to add a really good recruiter or two to the staff. He won’t let himself down like Mac did by keeping friends on staff.

I’ve gotten pretty jaded over the years. Until he shows it to us I just don’t buy it.

But like we’ve said every year when recruiting is lackluster, it’s early.
