I don't get the feeling that UGA fans are melting. Most think he is still a lock.

And I agree that he would normally be the perfect fit for Mullen's O but he has stated that he wants to improve as a pocket passer and not be a runner to save his legs. After watching Fitz run for all those yards it would be a hard sell to say that he would not have to in his O.

Finch, I hereby grant you two wishes, one- you will have honey beavers up to your nostrils spreading love juices on you and two- I grant you unlimited powers as dmb's left hand man and your first duty is to order Albino to cleanup Straws mess that he caused with the Corral scare.

Gotcha. I don't blame UF fans for that. It's an exciting time right now for you guys and the sky is the limit with what can happen.

From the SECR Jimbo to TAMU thread:

quote:

Final Note: Been hearing there's a decent chance five-star QB Justin Fields would visit FSU should Willie Taggart get the job.

We have the #3/4 QB and we're going to risk him and everyone he's recruited for the #1? It's just not sound. We should be glad he just doesn't give a frick and is prepared to compete with anyone at any time, but if he was a different type of dude we'd be risking half our class for a quarterback who is maybe 2% better than the quarterback we already have.

Undoubtedly Fields is better coming out of high school, but we are desperate to have a leader -- and we have a recruit who is showing more leadership than the last six quarterbacks combined and we're slapping him in the face by going to court another quarterback who took one visit to Gainesville and said ''nope''.

Dammit Straws... I don't like it when you're reasonable and I have to agree with you...

Even if I look at this from an impartial standpoint, it seems a poor move *unless* Mullen has a good idea that either a) Corral simply won't work for what he wants to do (odd, but fine...) or b) Corral has indicated that he may not be interested in playing for Mullen in some way shape or form (haven't heard this, but never know what's been discussed)...

And I've watched Corral's tape, it's not like he's slow as frick. He's really quick, maybe not that big but that can be changed. If Corral has shown that he doesn't want to be at Florida, I haven't seen it.

Which means that this is just a bizarre attempt at a low percentage.

Or, his dad said that we have a good chance at Fields -- which might be possible but this far into the game I'd rather just use that visit on someone who is really interested just hasn't gotten the attention he deserved.

This is just...kinda low on all sides.

mullen is just doing his due diligence. i wouldn't expect to get fields or several other guys he's gonna go after in the coming weeks.

it's what a coach should do at a school like UF. you're looking too far into things, though i understand your concern. it'll be ok.

I'm just glad Corral is a gamer and doesn't care who he has to compete with. I just think it's WAY too little WAY too late for Fields.

That being said: It would not surprise me if his dad was trying to sweeten up a deal. It's so bizarre that his dad contacted us.

that's the kind of shite that concerns me. lotta times parents get too involved it's they want some type of guarantee or concession. not saying that's the case, but it happens.

FWIW, some sources that have been accurate on Fields stuff on the Georgia end have disputed the whole "his dad contacted Florida" narrative.

The story as I've heard it is that Seider was his recruiter at Florida, has done a good job maintaining contact. Asked the family if they could do an in home, family said they would hear them out.

Ahh, forgive me, I didn't know it was #tfakenews.

I had just seen it reported in so many places and figured it was correct.

Mullen has talked to a lot of recruits and commits except corral. Imo corral is being shown the door. We'll chase fields lose and get some big project who can't throw. I'm going to be PISSED if that happens

Nobody cares that YOU will be pissed, so no reason to announce it. I thinks Corral sticks fwiw.

That isn't true. Corral was literally his first call.
