It would have to be Kelly, in that case. Maybe Stoops. I think Frost would definitely have a chance, but the Kelly brand would crush at Florida.

Copeland's headed to Bama it LOOKS like. Oh well.

Need to make this hire the day after the regular season ends or risk losing Corral too

If it is Frost and they are in the AAC Championship game, would probably wait until that is over December 2.

I think they gauge his interest before then. See where his mind is.

No doubt, and I think it will likely be wrapped up before then whether he is the selection or not, but guessing he wouldn't approve of an announcement until after that championship game.

I think Stricklin pretty much knows who the guy is going to be right now based on conversation with representatives.
He'll probably have a deal in place with the agents of four or five coaches, then interview them in order from guy we most want first to the end. I bet if interview goes well, we hire our #1, if interview goes bad we move on to #2, and go from there.
But I bet that we have a deal negotiated money wise with whoever the coach is going into the interview

It just can't come soon enough, is all. I realy want to see the next coach so we can move on from this year.

No offense but that is stupid. Rushing into a coaching hire based off the timeline of a commit's wishes should not be how you handle a coaching hire at UF.

Obviously Corrals commitment isn't the number one concern in the coaching hire, but in the recruiting thread it's something that's worth considering or keeping in mind.
I hope we hire the right guy and hire that guy as soon as possible

I kind of disagree though -- we do need to keep Corral if at all humanly possible, I agree with you in this regard.
We haven't had a guy with that type of ceiling since Grier, and before that since Tebow. He changed schools and he still balls out. That's not just impressive, it's incredible.
We need a coach who can keep him, specifically, because the QBs on roster seem shellshocked.
That being said: I heard on Youtube that Nussmeier hates to run it with the quarterback, and he does it significantly less at every job before and after his hire. fricking idiot.

I trust the new HC will be a home run who will save the classes lined up.

Who knows.... Depending upon who we get, we could dump Corral and steal Fields from the dawgs

This is kinda cute... I wouldn't put my eggs in that basket... I mean, it's recruiting... so quite literally anything is possible, but best chance for Gators to hold the class together at this point is home-run hire quickly and secure Corral... even if Chase and/or Copeland don't stick/come back, wide receiver is an area where UF should never have a problem long term... too many athletes in the state of Florida.
On the upside, at least you aren't Vol'ing the thing by dangling the guillotine over your HC's neck for the entire season... gotta give credit on pulling the trigger once the decision was made.

Yeah I don't think anyone's going to change -- at least we'd never flip Fields after basically just turning immediately to Corral.
I am definitely glad we fired him as fast as we could, because there are a lot of programs who are kind of doing the tightrope, and I'm just happy for the coaching search.
It's a whole hell of a lot more exciting than what we've done on the field.

Given how long you defended Mac I truly doubt this:
Nonetheless this has been an entertaining HC search so far.

The smoke has seemed to have died down. Especially now that butch has been fired.

Kelly is talking NFL all day today, it wouldn't be announced until tonight or in the next week.

Everything I have heard is that it wouldn't be announced until early next week, but there has still been quite a bit of chatter today.
