My son wants one of Christmas. Is it worth it?

How old and what games do they currently play?
If they are into Sports games (FIFA, Madden, NBA 2K) or Call of Duty, then no.
However if they are a large fan of Zelda, Mario, Smash or Mario Kart, then heck yes.

He is five. He likes racing games and loves the LEGO games and games with similar game play like LEGO

Yeah, that might not be the best console for him since the cartridges are tiny and the library for racing games isn't the biggest. Mario Kart although a lot of fun might be a little too advanced at his age.

He will love it. It’s an amazing system and a ton of fun.

Yep.
I’d buy a switch and Mario Kart. Perfect starter game for Nintendo and he’s already familiar with racing. He’ll pick it up quick.

Perfect gaming system for a younger child plus it is portable or you can connect to the TV.
$299 plus buy a memory card.

Thanks all for the feedback. Went ahead and bought one with Mario Kart and several other games.

Unless you’ve exposed him to Fortnite, he will never stop playing MK lol

They just released need for speed hot pursuit in it.
Mario kart is a trip.
You can hack it to play old Nintendo games or just pay the $20 to get access to their library online to the nes and snes libraries. We got one last year and it's been great for the kids. Zelda, Mario kart, Mario deluxe.
I got assassin creed the Revolutionary iteration for me and its great.
I hope they remaster all the older zeldas I missed.

Nonsense. Most of the deals can be had for digital downloads of games. Just make sure to buy the biggest SD card you can find.

It's quite literally the best console for that age.

My boys want one, 6 and 8. Can we play multi players? Is so, do we need more accessories?

Make sure you get the home console and not the Switch Light.

My five year old is virtually obsessed with my Switch Lite. She loves it. I have to hide it in high places until she completes her schoolwork and reading. She walks around telling people they should avoid the Yiga Clan. Preposterous, but true.

How long does it take to download games? Bought one for my daughter and didn’t buy any games yet. Was going to DL them but also don’t want to wait 4-hours on Xmas morning.

downloads arent that long for me but it probably depends on your wifi speeds
bigger issue will be long term memory space. you will probably need to invest in a decent SD to store all the games

I’ve got gig internet through AT&T, so speed isn’t a concern.

I bought a 256GB microSD card so I hopefully should be all set.
Thanks.
