and they are having a grand time with it. I hope more packs get released before it's discontinued.

We got the Variety pack and the Vehicle pack, and we haven't even gotten into the Vehicle pack yet. My 11 year old loves building the kits and my 5 year old loves playing the games. I highly recommend this to anyone with kids.

It has various play modes. You build a house, put the Switch in it, put together some pieces that go into the house and then you tend to a little pet in the house. Different combinations of putting the pieces into the house affect the minigames and items on the screen. I'm not doing a great job of explaining it, but it is truly more than I expected. They clearly put a ton of thought into it, and they release new patterns online from time to time so you can build & create on your own.

ETA: fixed title because my phone autocorrected "Labo" to "Labor."

That's the best way to get labo: when somebody else pays for it.

Well I paid for it. We got 2 kits for $100 during an Amazon sale. So far it is totally worth that price. Not sure I agree it was worth the $70 each it is normally.

I guess I did word that strangely. $100 total for the 2. Fixed it.

Yep. Each set comes with a bunch of cardboard sheets to create with and a game that has tutorials and allows you to use your creations in the preloaded games or create your own patterns/coding formats. The vehicle set can also be used with Mario Kart. They need to expand on the creation program. Maybe a space where folks could share their creations would be nice.

There is a sensor at the bottom of the right joycon that is utilized to make the cardboard pieces interact with the Switch. It uses reflective tape on the cardboard to make it work. That's the best I can figure out. It's more responsive than I would have expected.

You can use the game to make the screen an instrument as well.

I hope they release something small like that for free.

They released a pattern for a guitar that I downloaded yesterday. Also a piano is one of the base kits.
