I'll, reluctantly, start this.

Topic 1. Zeb Noland is going from coach to starting quarterback at South Carolina.

Let's go?

PS Mods Can We Get a Sticky? (This is why I asked a few days ago. Been milling over starting this thread or not...)

Is Jason Brown that bad to have lost out to this guy? Brown at least had over 3,000 yards (28 TD, 6 INT) in 2019, albeit for St. Francis (PA) so I can't even imagine some of the names of the schools he was playing.

Showed up overweight and not in playing shape for fall is what I've heard.

Zeb should be fine vs EIU, they are a garbage team, we should just line up and feed them a heavy dose of Harris/Lloyd, with backups getting plenty of reps in the second half.

Zeb will throw 10-12 times, any more than that and we got some other problems besides QB.

It is concerning that this guy is the best we have behind Doty. What if Doty gets COVID, or injured? We're gonna suit this guy up against the likes of UK and UGA and the like? Recipe for disaster. Doty's health is concern number 1 for this program imo.

It's probably bad when you compare the talent between the two. I've never watched any tape on Noland, but would assume Brown is the more talented passer for no good reason really. But when you compare the maturity and football IQ between of both players then maybe it isn't as bad. Apparently Noland has developed a good relationship with Satterfield, and that can go a long way in how well a QB plays. Hill got the job last year after all because of his relationship with Bobo rather than how his talent compared to Hilinski's.

Now this part is bad if true... no way to spin it. Poor evaluation by the coaches and poor discipline by a player who enrolled in the spring. Our QB room is not in a position to be offering guys a scholarship that can't be relied on. Bringing him into our program to become the backup QB made sense when you looked at the QB attrition this offseason, but that argument goes out the window if you can't even lock up the #2 QB spot. Very disappointing

Hopefully this is just because it's EIL and we're letting Doty heal up a bit more?

I'll pass on your request.

It does help that Zeb did play football not too long ago.
He started 7 games this spring for NDSU

Yea it looks like that offense doesn’t pass the ball much
42.6 rushes per game
18.9 passes

He better be good at handing it to Harris

Are they a triple option team? Serious question. I have no idea.

No
That’s too many passes even for a triple option team
I don’t know what kinda offense you call it but here’s highlights of a game a few months ago against Youngstown state

I believe he also helped design the playbook with Satterfield. I'm sure that helped a lot.

I’m not at all confident in this guy and do think he will struggle and we will have a closer game than expected in one of our first OOC games

But this dude wasn’t just pulled off the street and hadn’t thrown a football for 4 years

It's pretty incredible how we managed to run off every 4* QB that we had during the Muschamp era. Doty should be safe simply by virtue of Muschamp being gone.

Our RBs and D-line will probably be our only legit position groups this year. TE skill won't matter if our QBs are terrible.

I have to say it's nice that no one is really expecting anything out of our team this year, as well as opening the season with a cupcake for once.

Well, technically, Dak was a 4* and he's still here. He's just not a Qb anymore...

Agreed and also think the O-line will be pretty good this year.

We might only have 1 week to enjoy it, but us winning (even against the most cupcake of cupcakes) and the taters losing is simply, Glorious.

Adam Prentice 6' 245 lbs

that's Harris behind him.

that's what is different running the ball this year from last. 46 was a mauler last year looking for defenders to blow up.

he was a RE FR in 2015 and 2020 was his 6th season playing college football.
