Not a whole lot we get to post about the fall camp, because we're not allowed to go to them, but that's OK. The media are being allowed into the early practices for a little bit, and they're getting some good photos.

Saturday 8/3rd: Tavien Feaster reported for his first practice as a Gamecock.

Thursday was the first OFFICIAL day of fall camp practice, but all it consisted of was the team getting together, breaking off into groups and getting orientated into the practice schedule, routine, and position classes. Friday the 2nd was the first practice on the fields, and it was mostly shorts/tees getting conditioning drills set up.

Apparently today was another day of shorts/tees - helmets but no shells. I imagine the next practice will deploying shells.

Here's a nice photo of true freshman RB Kevin Harris who will compete with Feaster and the others for carries. Talk about a beast. Again, he is a TRUE Freshman:

Dude has some guns. I bet if he squeezed the ball hard enough it would pop.

This team consists of four recruiting classes and a few years of hard training with the Mad Man Dillman.

Hopefully it begins to pay off this year and we win some we’re not supposed to win.

It’s all about the trenches, the running game, winning the turnover battle and making fewer mistakes.

This is what August training camp is all about.

What the frick? This was absolutely and totally unexpected. Lavonte Valentine (RB) has entered the transfer portal as of today. What in the hell happened? They were just fricking talking about him yesterday and how he was pumped as hell about this year and ready to go. I guess when they said "ready to go" they meant it literally.

Well shite. I followed his recruitment and his time while committed and he was always so incredibly excited about coming here. I really liked this kid. Didn't hurt that he is fast as hell and runs a 4.4 40.

Of course some are saying it's bc of Feaster. Actually a lot are saying that. Any of y'all heard anything about this?

ETA: This is the same young man that had issues with depression and admitted he'd attempted suicide multiple times not that long ago.

Yea, not gonna lie I’m ok with this. hes been bad for morale. Not only did he have the post about depression, and suicide and crying every night, but in the last week he was on twitter “liking” people’s posts shitting on Feaster.

Just sounds like he had a bunch of issues and was becoming a locker room cancer. I wish him nothing but the best and hope somewhere else makes him happier, clearly here wasn’t the answer

I wonder if he was " encouraged " to look around.

Not surprised at all. Best for all parties. I hope he gets the help he needs.

I saw it coming after Spring Ball when TBrown said he was “focused on track” and only participated in a handful of practices. Didn’t think he would ever see the field here unless on ST.

Looking like Devontae Davis is the first victim of the infamous injury bug. Foot Sprain might need surgery.

Kinlaw had an ankle issue but its not serious and was taken out for precautionary reasons.

Do the other UA schools have the ankle and foot issues that we have?

Not to detract from the other things he shouldn’t have done (liking posts bad mouthing another player) but

This is serious stuff and I hope he gets whatever help he needs. Best of luck to him

I'm sure that's something that's been looked at. It's easy to blame the shoes and/or strength and conditioning but it's way more complicated than that. Florida lost a DB yesterday with a foot injury wearing Nike. Tennessee has had a lot of injuries and they wear Nike. Kelley Bryant got hurt in practice. I believe Mizzou wears Nike. You know as detailed as Muschamp is, they track everything. If there's a pattern and cause that can be corrected, it will be.

Probably just trying to place blame, but damn it seems like it happens more to us than elsewhere.

I agree every circumstance is unique, but if we're following trends (which I think is very valid in this case), Dillman's record as a S&C coach is riddled with injuries.

He's good for pumping/hyping our players up, but I've long viewed his position on our staff as where an improvement should be made.

Yea, I just didnt delve into that since we have a whole nother thread dedicated to that. "Please keep this man..."

Im all about supporting him, and wish him the best. But right as he started badmouthing our players and liking disparaging comments about players on twitter, it would appear that South Carolina is not the place he needs to be. Hopefully he finds the help he needs somewhere else.
