Hopefully Tennessee learned a valuable lesson from the Jeremy Pruitt experiment...

The #1 lesson being don't let fans or influential boosters tell you who to hire or not to hire. I like Clay Travis, I think the dude has some really good takes on a wide variety of topics, but he should not be allowed to sway or influence a coaching search. I'm not saying Greg Schiano would have been the next Robert Neyland or anything, but he certainly would have been a better fit than a man who had absolutely zero head coaching experience prior to being hired.

Tennessee simply needs to clean house and start off with a competent AD.

It’s been the root of all the problems and there’s an excellent parallel for Nebraska AD after letting Solich go and the AD reinventing their program.

I have no dog in the fight. Tenn can only recover if they can get recruiting back to a high level. Tenn high school football does not produce enough. Kind of like Michigan and Nebraska Tenn is stranded. Requires a lot of out of state talent. Pruitt seems to be recruiting ok... I do agree that the Rutgers coach would have been a reasonable choice.

Tenn has to commit to the spread and get a QB.

What would lead you to believe that Schiano would have been successful?

Rutgers, Tampa...being a DC in the Big 10 with superior talent to every team you play?

The reason Tennessee fans were pissed about Schiano was because they still were living in the dream world that they would get John Gruden

Next hire needs to not be via Twitter mob polling.

You’d need a competent AD in Knoxville.

I’ll hang up and wait.

You do need an AD and not just a retread coach as a placeholder.
