You forget Conway Twitty, Rosetta Tharpe, lefty Frizzell, Tracy Lawrence, the Browns, Levon Helm, Charlie Rich, Collin Raye, Ronnie Hawkins, Anita Pointer of the Pointer sisters Jimmy Driftwood who wrote the battle of New Orleans and others.

You should go on. Helena, Arkansas, of all places, is one of the most important cities in the US when it comes to the development of the Blues. Which is what Rock was based on. Which is what our current fairly lousy music is based on.

Helena has suffered enough I don't blame them for that though.

They started doing the Conway Twitty days a bout three years ago.

His first band was the Phillips county ramblers. Conway was a rock singer for 10 years before getting into country music.

My Dad knew Conway (Harold Jenkins) when they were little (no shite, Conway recognized him in the West Helena Safeway once).

Anyway, they were poor so when they went swimming they skinny dipped.


I liked to tell folks that my Dad used to swim nude with Conway Twitty.
