How pretentious is it to sign the first letter of your name instead of your entire name?

I just use a letter, no hyphen. People call me by the letter anyway. Plus my name and formal bs is below it as the signature.

The first letter is fine. Its the people that put their picture in the signature line of the email that need to be given a firm shaking by the shoulders

When you have underlings sending messages from your account it helps to let the reader know who is sending the message. Plus all my formal name and title is in the signature block.

Still better than an a-hole at work who does a close tag with his first initial:

It's strange to me that I've gotten so old and business folks so young that nobody has mentioned what to me is the obvious reason. Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, single women living alone nearly ALWAYS used their first initial only in the phone book (what's a phone book?) and frequently did same in business e-mails. They did so so that the recipient would at least read the mail before trashing it.

[Edit] ...and, of course, to head off stalkers.

I have auto reply on for all emails.

It reads:

Thank you for your email. I'm terribly busy right now, but will read and respond (if necessary) at a future date and time of my choosing.
If I do not respond in a timely fashion, please resend and state that you are still waiting on a response from me.
