If you create a medical timeout, you need to sit for a quarter.

So if a guy catches a cramp and needs attention but is fine 3 plays later should sit for a quarter?

Sounds like a great idea that in no way shape or form could lead to people intentionally twisting people's ankles or punch them in the dick in the 4th quarter to take players out of the game.

Nah....wouldn't happen at all.

A quarter is a bit excessive but sitting the remainder of that series would be fine by me.

That’s ridiculous.. but I do think the player should be ineligible to renter the game until a first down or change of possession

Yes, punish players for getting hurt. Good call.

If they need medical attention on the field, they shouldn’t be rushing back in a play later. This is about player safety, not punishing anyone

If a player is successful at twisting someone’s ankle or punching him in the dick, they are going to go out of the game for a little while anyway. And if the person doing the twisting and
punching is caught, he is probably going out for the rest of the game.

I agree. Sitting the rest of the series would take care of a lot of the dives. A whole Quarter would lead to what pankReb said.

If they did that those players would be ejected. Any intentional/personal fall causing injury to another player negates the rule.

It won’t work. The SEC should review these on a team by team basis and if the integrity of the game is compromised based on all circumstances after season long situations are reviewed then pulling scholarships at the end the season would have a chilling effect.

Not the quarter, but definitely for the remainder of the possesion. That will greatly cut down on the dives.

Or slow the game down on O, i mean sure is a lot injuries when teams do the go fast o.

Player and ref safety is something they can somewhat control.

If you need help on the field, there needs to be a safety period to protect the player.

At least that possession if not the quarter or half.

A quarter is a bit harsh. They should have to sit for the rest of the current drive, plus one full drive after the "injury".
