Barry Switzer wasn’t going to lose that recruit

My understanding is that State and Ole Miss were not part of the bidding war. Keep in mind that our head coaches at that time we're Emory Bellard and Steve Sloan, respectively. Probably two of the cleaner coaches you could have.

People leave Louisiana for west Alabama. There’s literally not shite in west Alabama. It’s not even scenic.

the same can be said about Marcus Dupree who was out of Mississippi, why Oklahoma?
That one is pretty simple. Oklahoma offered the most $$$$
His mom got a brand new double wide days after he committed to Oklahoma. No explanation as to how she could afford it.

Faulk wanted to play RB and everyone was recruiting him to play DB except SDST

Was that during the hallman era? Can't blame anyone for not coming to LSU.

In an alternate universe, Jackie recruits Steve McNair at QB and Keyshawn Johnson academically qualifies at Mississippi State and starts opposite of Eric Moulds. Would have been crazy.
And Steve Spurrier could have coached MSU at the time.

Check out Eagles RB Kenneth Gaunwell tonight, cat has some serious jets. Another one the SEC missed on, he played at Memphis like the Cowboys Tony Pollard.

Marcus Dupree’s mother got a brand new mobile home from Barry Switzer that’s why. I heard him say that in an interview when discussing the trouble he had with Duprees attitude.

Being he was the nations top recruit you'd think it would have took more than that.
Would ya believe Dupree was running back so many kickoffs for scores the offense went to the coach to get him off that team so they could play more?

Switzer, if I recall, made seem as though Marcus didn’t want to play there and that Marcus’ mother had a hand in getting him to play there for a new home.
I wish I could remember where I saw that because I was stunned that Switzer flat out admitted to buying his mother a mobile home so he would play for them. Of course this interview happened after he was coach of the Dallas Cowboys,

Would you want to deal with the humiliation of playing in an environment with confederate flags flying everywhere
I roll my eyes every time some leftist idiot doesn’t know the difference in the actual confederate flag and a battle flag used by a regiment.
If you want to see what the real confederate flag looked like, check out Georgias current one. Made me laugh so hard to hear all the whining from the left about the old GA flag, only for GA to pull a fast one on those same idiots and actually copy the confederate flag as it’s replacement.
