Some B12 fans think Texas joined the SEC because they couldn't win in the B12. Wrong.

They joined the SEC because they're still going to lose but this time there's an excuse because they'll be playing actual football schools and they'll get paid more for the privilege.

You lose games to Texas Christian, Texas Tech, Iowa State or Baylor?

Or

You lose games to LSU, Auburn, Alabama or Georgia?

Lose to better teams on better campuses with start times between 3:30pm and 8pm and get paid more.

Nobody wants to get fricked by Baylor at 11 in the morning for 4 dollars.

Texas isn't stupid.

Baylor on the other hand...

Texas and OU joined the SEC because the Big 12 is a totally boxed in conference with no future potential for meaningful expansion, and for better or worse super-conferences are the inevitable future of college football.

On top of it, the conference's existing footprint is tiny and most of the members are little brother in their own state (Iowa State to Iowa; KState to KU; Okie State to OU; Texas Tech, TCU, and Baylor to the Horns). It's pretty much West Virginia, KU, and a bunch of second fiddles now. Purely in terms of geographic footprint/population base, that is one of the least attractive conferences in the entire FBS now that it is missing OU and Texas.

Texas needs to right coach and they can compete in the SEC. Not just the right guy in practice and in games, but also one thats willing to tell all the meddling bigwigs in Austin to frick off and let him run the show. That was supposedly one of the first things Saban did at Alabama

I agree with this- Big12 was so poorly run it was not an good expansion conference. Ironically, this is almost all the fault of Texas.

Texas is a coach away from sitting where Bama has been the last decade. There is one puzzle piece that is missing. And we are hoping it's Sark.

There are about 10 schools that can say that. I don't think we'll ever see another run like Bama is currently on.

Now that you will be directly competing against Bama, you're going to have another massive puzzle piece to figure out. It's all fun and games until Saban calls your highest rated recruit

They joined because they got left behind, and they knew it.
They’re in a second-rate conference.
A&M’s trajectory headed up; theirs stagnated.

It’s going to be awkward going from their current talking points (e,g., conference affiliation doesn’t matter, the SEC is an overrated/'one-team' league) to having to change their perspective/recruiting pitch overnight.

The Saban types and success are very rare. Even if Bama were to be in a decline once he retires, another team in the SEC will simply pick up the slack and move forward like nothing happened.

Texas killed expansion in the Big 12 vetoing Louisville and Houston and not letting several other teams get started in their efforts to inquire about joining the Big 12 by making known that they would veto those schools.

I think they wanted to join the SEC because they thought TexASS was losing ground to Aggie in recruiting and blamed it on the SEC membership of Aggie. But their recruiting was decent it was coaching that let the rest of Big 12 beat them.

The UT culture hurts TexASS players and alumni think they are entitled to win. TexASS should never have fired Mack Brown, he was their last good coach. Jury is out on Sark but outsiders tend to think it is easy to win in the Big 12. The round robin then repeat game against the best opponent is extremely difficult. Think about playing every team in the SEC each year then playing a second game against the best opponent.

Texas made more money in the Big 12 than they will in the SEC with their third tier rights in the Big 12. I think Texas is trying to boost their recruiting which is strange the Texas pool of players is huuuuuuge. Maybe they have just accepted the fact that they will never beat Oklahoma again and want to beat up on Aggie out of frustration.....

Texas joined because they were losing recruits to Big Brother Aggie because Aggie plays in a good conference against elite teams.

#hornsdownsecnation is the new movement!! Share and share alike existing SEC members!!!! Time for the fun to begin while Horns fans eyes swell up from the unfair treatment. Lol.

Texas-Austin joined the SEC as they have accepted mediocrity in the Big 12 for the last decade so why not be mediocre to a very poor performer in the SEC while making far more money?

It is a VERY smart decision to follow in the footsteps of Ark,Mizz and A&M. Doesn't UT-Austin claim to be visionary? Hehehhehehe.

"Only a coach away"??????

Hahahahahahahahahha.

How is that working out for you narcissist Texas fans?

HORNS DOWN! Better get use to it. This is gonna be so much fun to watch!!!
