Finch is right on this one, but I'm a bit of a curmudgeon when it comes to players getting paid because they are already heavily compensated.

Florida holds literally all of the risk in the transaction for multiple reasons:

Take Chris Steele as an example, just one example out of many. Florida gave him room and board, spent thousands of dollars (at least) to visit him, to fly him out, give him a dorm, etc. etc. and he didn't even play a single snap at Florida.

Or what about Randy Russell? He was diagnosed with a Heart Condition and still got a full ride scholarship, Florida still honored their promise to him and guess what? Not a single snap.

Florida pays for medical staff, coaches, room and board for up to four years, gives access to NFL pipelines, literally multi-million dollar facilities, nutritionists -- all a football player has to do is go pretend to take classes and play a sport that they love and even if they don't ever work out they'll still have a scholarship that is easily worth millions of dollars.

They aren't paid in cold hard cash, but they are heavily compensated -- especially considering that most of them are like Copeland, they haven't done jack shite, they're still kids.

How many of us would take a job that paid for our education, housing, food costs, gave us experts to train us, facilities, free travel and money on the side?

Right out of high school, no real world experience? Shiiiet.

People do it all the time in the military, and the only reason the military is paid is because they literally own you.

As a student you can just up and leave whenever you want, and all of that money that the school wasted on you? Poof, up in smoke.

Anyway, frick these spoiled brats. Want everything for nothing.

eta: i know some of you elders here don't like to here comparisons like this, but i haven't seen a single Bama player tweet anything like Cope did. they probably have, but i haven't seen anything. usually, their heads are in a place where winning championships matter. Cope's mind appears to be thinking about only one thing.......

Also kinda bolsters the fact that there are teams that are clearly paying their players already, and it's unsurprising that several of our players have already talked about it.

I also don't think Copeland is going to be selling shite until he actually does something, so I have no idea why he's all about it.

As an older Gator...Im against payments to players based on the concept that college has AMATUER athletes. But no turning back now...ESPN controls most of college football and dictates scheduled game times and schools are puppets of the mega string puller.

BTW I am also against expending the football playoffs. The ones clamouring for expansion dont understand the logistics of it all. WHERE will games be played for lower tiered teams and the only answer is home games.

Fans arent going to travel to Miami from Oklahoma for a lower rated bowl and then have to travel again maybe two more times. Bowls would cease to exist except for Pineapple Fruit Bowl.

Even though UF would benefit from expansion...I think 4 teams will serve up the best teams in the country..of course there are going to be some teams left out (A&M) but expand it and you will have fans of the 13th rated team that was left out complaining.

Even the BCS usually had the best two teams in the country and thats what we should see on our big screens or in person.

I honestly don't see Copeland sticking it out here once he falls out of the starting rotation in the fall he will transfer. I'm sorry the guy just isn't going to get it done on the field. Wish him the best of luck hope he does have a break out year with what ever team he transfers too.

Yeah, I honestly have to say that my entire prediction of him turning out good this year was predicated on him being focused.

Worrying about getting paid when he's done absolutely nothing to warrant it, is, disappointing. That doesn't seem like someone dedicated to bettering himself and his craft.

QB Young of Bama already hired a promotion company to market his talent...even though he has only thrown for about 150 yds as a back up last year. Its crazy these days.

He had 435 last year with all those guys in front of him. Idk I've only heard good things this offseason. Like he knows it's his year and knows Emory will be looking to him a lot. He will get open

I hope so at least

Everything coming out of camp is him really embracing the role as "the guy" and stepping up as the leader of the WR room. Him n Jones have a great repoir.

Peter you believe whatever you choose too believe.

If he is the real leader in the WR room and the best WR UF has then its going to be a long Disappointing season because in the past 2 season Cope could not catch a cold much less a meaningful pass. Until he proves on the field in the fall. then I cannot believe anything I am hearing when practices start in August will have a better Idea of what he might do "MIGHT DO" but until he actually does it then he could be talked about as the Devonta Smith of Florida but I'll only believe it when I see it on the field.

If I'm wrong I'll happily come on here eat crow and tell everyone I was wrong about Cope but I really think he transfers before September when he falls behind in the rotation.

Ima call it how I really feel

750+ yds 7 or 8 TDs at least. At the the same time I wouldn't be surprised if it was 3 more TDs w/ 250 more. He knows it's his time to get that love of the top gator WR. Think he gon do it up my gy guy or I hope. Xzavier will be better then people think too.

Shorter also
