The comparison could be made to the 1998 Tennessee Football team. Where 97(2019) was expected to win with the star power. And the next year wasn't expected to be as great yet here we are.
Obviously everyone in the CWS is good. But the only team left I'd prefer State not to play is Vanderbilt but quite Frankly they may not make it out of NC State, Stanford, or Arizona. Those teams have played some good postseason ball.
I know Tennessee is good, but I still think we intentionally exited Hoover so I think we are much more evenly matched than that. Virginia seems like a gift for our bracket, and Texas will be tough certainly but we've proven we can match up with them.
Exciting time. I think COVID impacted pitching more than anything since it really feels like there's less consistent pitching than usual. At the same token we've proven we can crank the bats up.

Let's whip Texas like the nag she is. Tennessee worries me tho. Hopefully they will use Chad Dallas in game one so we won't have to face him. Need to get the offense going like games 1 & 3.

I have my reservations about Lemonis, and have spoken to a former diamond dawg that had the same reservations, but the dude squeezed every ounce he could out of this team in terms of w/l’s, so he should definitely be commended, but it we are going to win a natty, we need to improve recruiting to a tip tier level. If he can do that consistently, I’m good with whatever the results may be, but we ain’t there yet. Just too hard to beat the elites without matching their firepower offensively, defensively and building a deep pitching staff.

State recruits top 7 classes. Our problems have been the MLB draft taking kids. HOPEFULLY this weekend opened some future stars eyes.
