Looks like I read the wrong article. Thornton is the new OL coach. Looks like a good young up and comer who also spent some time on Sabans staff. Seems like a good hire

Seems like an underwhelming hire to me. Only 3 years experience as an OL coach and all at the FCS level. Judging by the candidates, it was not a super desired job. Probably because of the weird timing.
