Jacob Gonzalez
TJ McCants
Kemp Alderman
Jack Dougherty

Is there another Top 20 team in the country that is getting meaningful contributions from four true freshmen?

It's hard to go straight from high school to the SEC in any sport except maybe one and done basketball.

Does this indicate that we are thin on talent in general? Or are these guys just that good?

I believe LSU and State both have several freshman starting. LSU not top 20 but still.

I'm a relatively new college baseball fan. Basically the past 10 years. But really the past 5 that I've been paying attention. Just curious how common it is.

Usually one freshman pitcher should show stuff to move into a weekend rotation the following year and I’d say 2 batters should show up. If you are having more contribute over that it’s great and means less juco needed.

Calvin Harris and Josh Mallitz have contributed some this year too.

Don’t look at baseball like you would football. Plenty of high schoolers get drafted and go 2a ball.
