It's just a tradition, that Aubie mascot people can't be seen without aubie's head while in public and still in the base costume

Google "Barry Mask Aubie". He was the first Aubie and there are multiple pictures of him "headless" in costume.

One of my neighbors used to be GT's Buzz. He told me a story of the Capital One mascot challenge commercial filming. after they got finished, they all got on a bus with no AC, for a ride back to the hotel. Just mascots and bus driver. No A/C, middle of summer, Aubie was the only mascot who didnt remove costume. Said he almost past out and needed medical attention when they got back to the hotel.

I see, but I think it's just a good rule to keep, it probably lets them live a normal life on campus otherwise

When I was working at the Tavern on Opelika Rd back in 09, guy came in with his knee in a heavy brace, I asked him what happened and he told me he tore his ACL playing one of those American Gladiator games. I thought it was weird, but didn't really think much of it.

After a couple of $1 pitchers, dude came back up and said "hey man, I wasn't completely honest with you earlier. So I did tear my ACL playing American Gladiators, but I didn't tell you I was wearing realllllllly big shoes...and a suit.....and another head"

He didn't say that he was Aubie, just that he was a reallly really really good friend of Aubie

A high school friend was an FOA. Really nice guy but I don't think he ever became the #1 FOA during his tenure. He was on event duty and basketball (pre-Pearl), and I think he did a couple football games due to illness. He never learned to not react to his name being called His class ring is pretty cool though. It's inscribe with his FOA #

Farmhouse always seemed to have at least one FOA

Speaking of JABA stories, the story of a friend of Aubie going to a small town parade and him hopping on the back of a fire truck during the middle of the parade, only for the fire truck to get called into action while he was riding on it and getting left in the middle of nowhere is great.

A good friend of mine was head Aubie 20 years ago or so. The suit remains with the school. The head remains with the individual. It’s a pretty special club to be a part of.

So are you telling me that Aubie is murdered every year, and these monsters keep his head like some trophy?

When I graduated they had Tiger the golden eagle out so graduates could get their picture with him.

Up close these are huge birds with huge beaks and cold black eyes.

Tiger nipped at the ear of the guy in front of me in line.

As I’m moving beside him for the photo I asked the guy holding him does he bite?

Guy says only when he is nervous.

I said what makes him nervous??

He said being around a lot of people.

I’m standing next to Tiger in the picture but leaning away.

My parents were saying get closer, get closer.

Made a funny picture.
