Some New Years Thoughts

There is a large number of new QBs in the SEC for 2021. The Gators, Bama (although Jones is a jr), A&M, Razorbacks, Vols (if you count JG as a starter leaving), Kentucky, should be interesting to see how everything shakes out.
LSU, USCe, UGA, will have QBs who didnt play the whole year in 2020.
Thoughts?

Much more worried about our QB situation at the moment.
Emory didn't look sharp, and didn't look like he was ready to lead the offense, unfortunately. Hoping that we overhaul our offense this off-season.

Im just as worried about WRs for 2021. Trask benefitted from excellent group in 2019-20 and we need game breakers. I dont think Copeland will be as explosive....hope Im wrong. Toney had the shake n bake moves his first year...but couldnt block or run routes...Coopeland doesnt have that skillset and few do.
The DL needs grade AAA beef and an ability to shite stomp offenses. Dexter will be better in 2021, but we need more, a lot more for rotations.
Watching A&M was like watching a 1960s team. Run the ball and then run it more. Mond was a liabilty passing and Fisher decided to go old school with a fullback in most sets. If you have his kind of OL and defense, then it makes sense. A&Ms densive secondary was average, but QBs never had much time to set their feet.

The Vols should be better off.
Bama will be fine with Young.
UGA looks to be in better hands with Daniels but he's got some things to work on as well.
LSU looks like it has two capable qbs with Brennen and Johnson.

Could easily see UF being back to the spread-option Tebow style offense next year.

I believe that's what's coming, but our OL is arse so it gonna be a long season

Yeah, that's why I'm worried. That offense works with someone who can actually pass, and Emory can't. We can't reliably expect to win even simple hat on hat battles, and so with that offensive line we're going to see a lot of loaded boxes, throwing to guys who just aren't that good or explosive.
Emory definitely ain't no Tebow in size or passing capacity.

I don't believe that Emory Jones is the answer for the future. Too small to take the SEC pounding as a running QB and not accurate enough on his passes.

The OL will be ok in 2021....DL ??? And there is a correlation between offense and defense. Defense needs to give the ball back to the offense so we can have more snaps. And the offense needs to make first downs to rest the defense. Special teams need to give us good starting possessions and keep the opponent from gaining return yds on us.

I feel better with the two DT transfers. While I too am not sold on Emory...if he is the starter most of the year, then he just needs to be a 62-64% passer at least. We will have a loaded backfield and Bowman may turn out to be a game changer?
We already had talent in the backfield but backs were never give enough carries with a 68% pass offense. When you are running the ball, you may have 12 carries during a game where you only gain 30yds. But the next carry is a 70 yder. We should be at least 45% run team to keep QBs upright.
I think the OL will be ok and Hevesy will be smart enough to start developing the unit as run blockers if we start being more run oriented.
Special teams will turn over with new punter/kicker and its important to the ability to punt and flip fields and of course to kick crucial FGs.
I loved the wishbone....my God we had game breakers, but QBs weren't passers...they were runners. We were forunate to have Wes Freaking Chandler was our WR...Trask would have loved throwing to him...a ballerina in a football uniform. The wishbone always gave defenses plenty of rest, but unforunately our rested defense in the mid 1970s was a putrid pile of horse poop.
