Nick Saban added yet another national championship to his incredible résumé on Monday night. Although he enjoyed the program’s win over Ohio State, the legendary coach is still caught up over the championship games his team didn’t win.

Saban spoke to ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt shortly after last night’s game. Instead of using all his time on ESPN to reflect about the 2020 season, he admit that he still thinks about the 2016 and 2018 championship games.

“You’ve heard me say it before, I hate to lose. I don’t care how much you win, you still hate to lose,” Saban told Van Pelt. “You can talk about the seven that we’ve won, but the two that haunt me are the two that we lost. Don’t me ask why it’s that way. I have a lot of pride in performance and try to do the best I possibly can.”

I would be too. It's a school with orange in their uniforms.

I bet the first loss is the one that hurts the most. If Bo stayed healthy, we would've won the game going away. Nevermind the infamous pick play Clemson ran.

For a dude who wins as much as he has, the wins probably don't even bring him as much joy as the pain of losing

The all time greats are wound the same. They hate to lose so much that their relentless pursuit for winning is unmatched. They keep grinding even in the off season.

2018 we just played like crap and deserved to lose...it was disappointing because they looked so good before that game and proceeded to lay an egg, but 2016 was the one that really irritates me. Yeah, there was the pick play at the end, but we needed ONE stop by the defense at the end after Hurts scored...and didn't get it done. Wasn't used to seeing a Bama D fold with the game on the line. That drive by Watson at the end seemed to be when Bama's defenses became less dominating 2017 on. Still good, but just not the beasts of earlier seasons.
